24GHz Link remains operational through Tropical Storm Karen.
A high capacity IP link operating in the 24 GHz “license-free” (unlicensed) band has been installed by Aeronet in Puerto Rico. The 24GHz RAy3 link is able to provide Carrier Grade 1,000Mbps (full-duplex, Continues Frequency Division Duplex (FDD)) capacity operating with advanced 4096QAM modulation.
In September 24, Tropical storm Karen hits southeast of San Juan, Puerto Rico with sustained winds of 40 mph (64 kph). Constant rain and strong winds were hitting the island through the week. Although the hard weather conditions, the RAy3 link installed months prior with 2ft antenna dishes maintained its performance without interruption along the passage of the storm.
Gino A Villarini of Aeronet confirm that the RAy3-24GHz link installation of 1.5 miles stayed operational during the Tropical Storm Karen's Squalls that hit the Island this year and he is quite impressed with the quality and performance of the system.
