On the 14th of November, I had the honor of representing the Kurdistan Regional Presidency in the Ceremonies marking the 240th anniversary of the founding of the city of Sulaymaniyah. It was a joyous occasion for celebrating and meeting family and friends. ?
The city of Sulaymaniyah was established on 14th November 1784 by Kurdish Emir Ibrahim Pasha Baban. Following its founding, Sulaymaniyah became the capital of the Kurdish Emirate of Baban.
?The city was named after Ibrahim Pasha’s father, Suleiman Pasha, one of the Emirs of the Baban dynasty, which ruled over the Sulaymaniyah region at the time.
