24 hours left: Three ways to maximise your crowdfunded project to the very end

24 hours left: Three ways to maximise your crowdfunded project to the very end

See that green line in the graph above. I need to reach that line. In  the next 24 hours. My crowdfunded community book project still needs $330.

If I don't reach the target of $2,870 I don't receive the $2,540 already pledged. That's how it works on Kickstarter. So there is a lot at stake.

This is my dream I'm chasing and I will do everything it takes until that last hour. The last minute.

Here are three things I'm doing to make it to the finishing line:

1. Think laterally

At this point in the campaign I have emailed, Facebooked, and tweeted my friends and contacts to death.

It is time to target groups. My writing friends for example, my family, my journo contacts — I sent targeted emails to these groups. From 'support my dream' to 'I'll support your crowdfunder.' Whatever angle I think will work to encourage them to pledge.

2.  Saturate social media

I have tweeted and posted photos, links, thanked those who have pledged publicly. Most importantly I've asked people to share my posts. The  ripple effect on Facebook can be powerful. I've noticed pledges coming in from people I don't know which means I'm reaching further than just my friends.

3. Use your local press

Have a compelling press release. In the last hours of the campaign a newspaper might pick up your story. Remember your press release has to be compelling enough to appeal to people who don't know you. Here's mine that was featured with a photo (I provided to make it easy for them) in the Byron News.

When your campaign story is published, tweet, post, Instagram the hell out of it.

And then of course, write a blog giving advice to others who are crowdfunding.

Hopefully they will be so impressed (even a little), they might pledge $10, $20, $50 or $100 to help you across the line.

My Fricken Stop Gossiping project details are here. Please pledge and share.

Good luck with your own crowdfunding adventures. See you on the other side of that green line.

P.S. we did it. With 13 hours to spare we hit the target.

It will be a nail-biting race to the finish line but looks like you will make it, fingers crossed.
