2+3=5 & 4+1=5 RESPECTING OTHER PEOPLE’S WAY OF THINKING.

Different ways of doing the same. Do we respect other points of view? If not, then why not. The way we prefer to do things is not the only way to do it.

So why is it important to respect others’ opinions?

If you want people to respect your views and opinions, you need to respect theirs too. It’s as simple as that.

Entire civilizations have been destroyed just because one person thought that they were right, and all others were wrong.

This can only change if we start respecting other people’s opinions. It is important that we see things from perspectives other than our own.

?

This to me is one of the major reasons for certain organizations not doing well, because leadership there lacks this courage.

?

Respect for opinions is not easy. It requires self-control, sensitivity, tolerance, and generosity. And it applies both to stated opinions and to opinions that are unspoken.

?

Tips to consider for respecting others’ boundaries.

1.??Get Curious.

Sometimes a simple question, like “Is it okay if I do this?” will help you better get to know their boundaries.

?

?

2.??Be Receptive.

In other words, if someone tells you no or states their boundary, try not to push back, or diminish their line.

?

3.??Listen with Intent.

Steven Covey says, “Most people do not listen with the intent to understand; they listen with the intent to reply.” Are you one of them?

4.??Read between the lines.

Often people will give hints that they are not comfortable with a certain situation.

?

5.??Respect Everyone.

You can disagree respectfully and still show respect by listening. Let them complete before you give your opinion.

?

6.??Don’t Judge.

No one likes being judged. Try understanding where they are coming from and be more humane about it.

7.??Be Authentic.

Your own message should convey authenticity. You need to sound sincere and genuine. Showing respect goes a long way in every aspect of life.

?

8.??Respect other Customs.

The world is becoming increasingly connected. Time to respect other cultures and their beliefs.

?

?

Most people will not remember what you said, but they will always remember how you made them feel. Make other people ,

feel respected and they will respect you.
