#23 Mumster News Roundup: Collective Action
Welcome to our bi-weekly newsletter where we update you on the most important developments in the (sustainable) fashion industry and the hottest updates on what we've been working on. Let's dive in!
Our Black Friday Event was a huge success!
On Black Friday, we hosted a sold-out event at Pakhuis de Zwijger , Amsterdam. The evening kicked off with a live performance by The Swapshop , setting the stage for an inspiring keynote by Lara Wolters , Member of the European Parliament. Her empowering words resonated with the audience, driving home the message that collective action is the catalyst for real change.
Engaging live polls with fashion psychologist Anke Vermeer revealed fascinating insights into the audience's perspectives, underscoring the urgent need for systemic transformation in the fashion industry. Stay tuned as we prepare to share the results!
The National Wardrobe Audit
In addition to our own research during the evening, we invited Kim Aplonia Poldner to talk about the National Wardrobe Audit. The purpose of the research is to gain an overview of the clothes in our wardrobe and our motivations for buying, using and disposing of clothes, so we can create a shift in our collective consumer behavior. We encouraged the audience to take part in the audit, and so far, 428 out of the targeted 2,000 audits have been completed! So if you haven’t done the audit yourself, go do it now via this link. Additionally professor Mirella Soyer, PhD initiator of this research discussed its significance on Radio NPO 1, listen to the episode here.
Behavioral public campaign 2025
Building on the insights from the National Wardrobe Audit, we’re gearing up to launch a groundbreaking behavioral public campaign in 2025. In collaboration with Shop Like You Give a Damn and Professor Mirella Soyer amongst others, this initiative will feature The Naked Truth, a powerful documentary at its core.

Goodiebag #consciousconsumer
Thanks to our partners, we were able to provide our audience with something they could use to take immediate action as soon as they walked out the door. Our partner Fabriek Fris created a stunning goodiebag made from left-over fabrics and was screen-printed live during the event by Twee Jongens . Our partners The Swapshop , MENDED , COSH! Conscious Shopping Made Easy , multiple identities , John Altman (B Corp) , Shop Like You Give a Damn , LENA the fashion library made sure that everyone could leave as a #consciousconsumer by starting with repairing, mending, swapping and borrowing clothes! People could even get a second-hand item from the THIS IS FREE FASHION cart, one of the most disruptive initiatives by Lot van Os & Dieuwertje Vorstenbosch .
