23 Inspired Thoughts From Week 5

23 Inspired Thoughts From Week 5

  1. Really excited to be working with the great team at Parker PR as we embark on taking The Biz Dojo to the next level in 2023!
  2. Speaking of the next level… Connor Bedard sold out the Saddledome this week - I don’t watch nearly as much NHL hockey as I once did but if somehow the Canucks land him that might pull me back into watching more.
  3. This week in the #dojo we connected with a really inspiring leader → Jomo Green . He shared some lessons about sales that he’s learned along his journey and what really stood out to me was the simplicity of how he’s found success in sales. Helping your customers increase revenue, reduce cost and build strong relationships...?
  4. What’s your favourite resource for sales techniques? For me, Daniel Pink & Sara Blakely ’s MasterClasses stand out - Both have incredibly simple messages and still stick in my brain 2 years after watching them.?
  5. Daniel Pink: we spend at least 40% of our time influencing (selling) something in our working lives - whether it be ourselves, a project or an actual product… we’re all in sales.?
  6. Sara Blakely: She got a big break when SPANX was added to a major department store in Manhattan - can you guess how well it sold when it got in there? It didn’t. Until she started going every day doing demonstrations and directly interacting with prospective customers…?
  7. Psst. I am doing a webinar in a couple weeks about personal leadership - you can register here and I promise, you will have fun!
  8. One year ago this week I went to Miami on a whim to record a podcast - it was one of the most transformational experiences of my life. When was the last time you had a random adventure??
  9. How much does mindset matter in sports? My guy, Efe Ashakah and I had a great visit this week and in his experience - the most elite #basketball prospects in Canada have the skills on the court and mindsets that enable them to compete, adapt and grow to the highest levels
  10. How do you know when you are in a flow state?
  11. Maybe it’s because I spend most of my time in the ‘burbs but I feel like Kensington area in #YYC is underrated. So many great spots for coffee, food and cool shops. On Wednesday I did a full tour after the meeting at Parker PR, had a coffee at Deville, an Elvis sandwich at PB&J and popped into Status YYC to check out their Calgary Surge merch - delightful little morning.?
  12. Got about 200 minutes of exercise this week - finally back at it after 2 weeks of being sick!
  13. Had an amazing workout at Krank fitness & a great warm yoga sesh at Studio 85 HIIT & Yoga this week - Really enjoying Class Pass - shoot me a message if you’d like a referral to get some free classes for yourself next week!?
  14. If you have never done a warm or hot yoga session… I have grown to quite like them, it feels cleansing afterwards but be prepared to sweat!?
  15. At the Founders Coffee this week, I had a great chat with Sergey Abramov - if anyone is looking for advice on a video related project → he’s always super helpful and knowledgeable!?
  16. Quick coaching exercise I did with a client this week that you might find useful: What are your top 5 values and 5 things you know you are good at & enjoy doing? Is the environment you are operating in conducive to those values? How much of your time is spent doing those things??
  17. Have been thinking & researching a lot about investing in a small biz…?
  18. Caught up with Glen Lovas this week, he asked me what the best episode of the biz dojo was for him to listen to as an entry point… It’s honestly so hard to pick one at this point - but after we chatted for a bit I landed on season 4, episode 1 with Terry O'Reilly That was a really fun episode to record and I learned more about the creative process in that hour than probably any other hour of my life.?
  19. Checking in on my 23 intentions for this year: intending to write enough to fill a book → wrote 35 posts in January, really stretched myself to try some new things, create value and share my experiences. Thanks to Lejla Pekari? MPAcc, CPA, CA, PMP, CMP for inspiring me with the morning writing exercise, not quite at three pages yet but working on it!
  20. Went to my grandmas for breakfast this week - prioritising things like that more this year.?
  21. Solved nearly all of the world’s problems over americano’s with Kaylee Winnitoy - some things we’re pretty certain on include mental resilience is important in all aspects of life, there are many intangibles that don’t show up on a resume and knowing what fills your cup can make all the difference!?
  22. Looks like that haircut is on the horizon… new headshots with J.P. Gaston & Sean Mills next week!?
  23. Looking forward to the year end middle school basketball tournament next week - coaching these kids and seeing them develop over the last couple months has been so much fun!?

This week was one of the busiest (as needed) since the beginning of the year. Site visits, shooting locations scouting, actual production for three different projects and of course the number of quotes sent for the future potential great content creation videography. Wish I can stay mentally stable and strong for all upcoming jobs! ;)
