A few years back I met with a HR thought leader that challenged me to be more courageous in sharing my experiences and lessons learned with others in the social media space. She helped me understand that everyone has something they can learn from someone else, and if I have insights that could benefit others, then do not “play small”. In the words of another mentor, it’s OK to lean into humble authority.

I had transitioned away from Facebook, Instagram, and never really got into Twitter, but I find tremendous value in LinkedIn (LI) and thus I aspired to take her advice on this platform. Although uncomfortable, I started to increase my posts and in Fall 2020 wrote my first LI article on University Recruiting. Heading into 2021, I set a goal to write one article a month and carried that same goal in 2022. Since that first article I have written a total of 23 articles and missed only two months, ironically September both years (a conscience decision made both times).

The process of writing the articles was life changing. It helped me affirm what I am passionate about (topic wise) while indeed impacting others as the HR thought leader said would be the case, indicated by their kind words verbally or on posts, or through post reactions.

As we continue into 2023, although I will continue to post on LI, this will be my last article for the immediate future. As mentioned previously in a few different articles, ownership of our decisions on where we spend our time is key, and I have chosen to pursue an alternative self-development and service to others opportunity which will require redirection of capacity (being an adjunct professor).

So, enough about me, back to the HR thought leader’s advice. As you look at your own goals and aspirations for 2023 and beyond, below are the titles of the 23 articles I have written listed by theme. If any of these resonate with you, LinkedIn shows at the bottom of this article past articles written. Perhaps there is something in my words or the comments from others that could help you or others.

  1. Supporting Others: Everyone Needs Someone, Showing Up, Be a mentor, The Greatest Present of All, The day for Father’s, May and every month should be focused on others, April showers bring May flowers
  2. Mental Health: Attitude of Gratitude, One day at a time, Unanticipated challenges, Community Matters, Put Your Own Oxygen Mask on Before You Assist Others, Life Happens
  3. Personal/Leadership Development: Time, Gratitude for Great Women Leaders, Do What You Can, Continuous Learning, Controversial Statement - Not Every Opportunity Is Great, The halfway point, Luck, Tis the Season, New year - new you?, Fall 2020 University Recruiting

It’s been an honor to share my thoughts with those that have read them over the past few years, and if at any point I can be of help to you, please reach out. All the best as you chase your hopes and dreams.?
