21 Ways to Be More Creative in the Next 10 Minutes

I believe anyone and everyone can be creative (not just creatives). Here are 21 ways to be more creative/inspire your creativity: 

1) Listen to great speeches

2) Isolate yourself from noise, business, all the shite in the media, all the negativity of the bias media & all the ulterior motives

3) Constantly ask for other people’s thoughts & ideas. Ask for people’s advice. Whether it’s people you know, the people that are below you in the hierarchy of your business, or above you as mentors, or in unrelated niches

4) Create hybrids - most music & cars are now hybrids. As we have evolved through time we have hyper-specialised. not even 100 years ago you could only get one model Ford, the Model T, & only in black. Now you get hybrid cars of hybrid cars, like the Merc CLA or GLA, in any bespoke colour you choose. In music you had the Beatles & now you have all manner of super-specialised hybrid bands like babymetal & Metallica played only on string instruments & white kids merging rap & R&B & pop. 

5) Follow creative people (social media/work etc) &...

6) Read their books. Listen to their audio programmes. Go on their seminars if you can

7) Study innovations. Read up on innovators. Get books on how to innovate or how to design

8) Exercise more, things happen in your brain and things happen in your body which lends itself to creativity

9) Listen, to read, to have audio on in your head

10) Travel to & plan amazing places 

11) Write, write, write, write - get your emotion out. Write when you've got ideas. Write when you're inspired. Write when you're stuck. Write when you're angry. Write when you're feeling guilty. Write when you're arguing with someone in your head. Write, write, write, because it empties the brain to create new inspiration or the ideas will just come out as you write.

12) Accept & engage in feedback. How can you look at the same problem from a different way? 

13) Practise contrarianism, unconventional wisdom, slightly left field thinking, new spins on existing norms, uncommon sense. How can you think differently, laterally, unconventionally, you know, against the masses? How can you look at the same problem from a different way? How would Richard Branson/Buffett/Oprah think about this?

14) Create your creative space - Go to the Coffee Shop or a little cafe or a restaurant that you love where you feel inspired. And to feel inspired, you need to less clutter. If there's clutter everywhere that will represent your brain & that will stop you being creative so it needs to be de-cluttered

15) Be a fixer & a solver of problems (it's a mindset)

16) Give yourself some time & space, both physically & mentally. Ideas & creativity will come into your mind once you empty your mind of clutter and noise. Take some time away. Have time alone each day. Be bored every now and again. Try new things. Slow down. 

17) Be around kids & very creative people. Creativity inspires creativity. The most creative people are kids because they haven’t unlearned it like most adults have. Be around them more. Express yourself through play. Many people think they aren’t creative, but the reality is it can be learned. The best way to learn is by watching & being around other creatives. Practice coming up with ideas, brainstorming & thinking non-conventionally. 

18) Create a creative space. Make your place of work a fun, innovative & conducive place to be creative & you’ll find even the non-creative types become creative; even finance etc. 

19) Continue to disrupt & re-create, including yourself. Solve problems in your business/industry & you hone your creative urges. Do things differently to the rest in your market or niche. You can out-creative your competition

20) Take what has worked before & merge it into your new enterprise, business or Entrepreneurial endeavour. Transmute & bring new ideas from your unrelated creative activities to create new creative ones

21) Play more. Have fun. Experiment. Adventure.
