21 Things to do as a 21 Year Old in the 21st Century: Halloween Edition

Happy Halloween! It only felt appropriate that I reflect on this exciting holiday with all my blog readers as its consuming a lot of my brain space these days. I am normally not this excited about halloween but this year my roomates and I have not only contemplated costumes for entirely too long but our friend groups are throwing halloween parties left and right. And as you know, I love to socialize so I am thrilled to see lots of my friends out and about over the next three days. Yeah... you read that right... three days. Wish my social battery luck! Just kidding, I don't think I need it. Save your luck and well wishes for someone less extroverted.
I'm sure you've been dying to know what the 21 years olds are dressing up as. And I guess this blog is coming to you a little late - let's hope you channeled your inner Edie and already have your halloween costume(s) decided upon. I don't want to spoil my costumes, so instead, I will share my other ideas that didn't make the cut.
I went back and forth from Amazon and Pinterest to make the final costume decisions. Unfortunately, Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader - despite my love for the documentary - felt like it might be just a little too much for a casual halloween, if you know what I am saying, and I would be lying if I said I thought I would be the only college girl wearing this costume in Chapel Hill.
Another cut was Kim Possible. I'm not too sure how orange hair would look on me but I do own green jeans and a black T-shirt. I imagine this costume will be revisited for a year when I don't have the energy to scour the internet for a more clever costume.
Last up, Adam Sandler. A baggy t-shirt and pair of basketball shorts is not hard to come by but knowing me I would be too embarrassed to truly step out of the McMansion in said outfit.
My main qualm with halloween is the weather. Even growing up, I remember tears over the need for a jacket overtop my Sleeping Beauty dress - like hello... I don't remember Aurora wearing a black puffer in the movie.

Brining me to a few issues I have with halloween:
I'm not sure how we come about these changes. Can someone communicate this to their influencer friends who infiltrate my TikTok? I think they might be the most powerful people of Gen Z. They certainly infiltrated my halloween costume ideas.
That's all for today! My lesson for today would be to advocate for change, including changes to the holiday of halloween. Let's all think about the functionality of this holiday a little more.

3 个月Halloween should 100% always be on the last Friday of October! And I agree they need to bring back the Franklin St. tradition.

4 个月Halloween should ALWAYS be on a Friday and ALWAYS be warm enough for you to wear your costume without the big puffer! Thankfully it’s nice and warm this year. Great blog!
