21 Things to do as a 21 Year Old in the 21st Century: BLT Edition

21 Things to do as a 21 Year Old in the 21st Century: BLT Edition

Hello and good morning... I guess I should say afternoon as it's 12:35 as I begin writing this. Regardless, today's blog post is dedicated to one of my favorite places in Chapel Hill, Merritts Store and Grill .

I love it soooo much that this past February my sweet mother gifted me lunch with my housemates at Merritt's. My choice to write about this delicious sandwich shop might be slightly influenced by the fact that I am joining one of my friends there in an hour and I am ravenously hungry.

If you haven't been graced with a trip to Merritt's, they have the best bacon, lettuce, and tomato sandwich in the Triangle. In fact, I would say maybe even in the world. Take that with a grain of salt (I know it's a big statement) because it's not like I've truly tried BLTs all over the world or anything but as an avid BLT fan and consistent sandwich orderer, I've never had a sandwich quite like there's.

Fun fact: I'm a super taster. Does that make you trust my opinion more than before?

I won't bore with you an entire blog about a sandwich. But I hope after 4 paragraphs you may be willing to try a Merritt's BLT if you are ever in the Chapel Hill area. And with that, I will pivot to my most recent "shower thought."

I've always thought of four as my favorite number but the rule of threw applies to so many aspects of my life to the point that I may need to reconsider my long engrained love of the number 4.

Side note, I only chose four as my favorite number because my name has 4 letters in it. Which now, reflecting on this concept as a 21-year-old, seems beyond egotistical. I won't even dive into how I chose an elephant as my favorite animal because it starts with an E just as my name does. Are we sensing a trend here?

Now that I've admitted to my self-centered ways, let's return to the rule of three.

  • BLT's (I can pivot from my self-centeredness but not from my thoughts of a Merritt's sandwich).
  • three meals a day - My preferred lineup is yogurt and granola for breakfast, Merritt's for lunch, and Caesar salad for dinner.
  • the 5K loop I used to run several times a week - I realize a 5K is 3.1 miles but "rule of three point ones" just sounds funny.
  • the rule of odds - my mother who has a fantastic eye for decorating taught me this rule when I was young. I've applied it to my own decorating practices. As I look around my room now, I have three bottles of perfume on my desk, a stack of three books on a shelf, and three candle sticks to the nightstand on my right.
  • Above I named three examples of threes... I'm telling you the rule of three is everywhere.
  • I am one of three children.
  • When I pack for an overnight trip I bring one pair of nice shoes, one pair of sneakers, and one pair of tennis shoes. Your bases are always covered this way.
  • I almost always produce three drafts of a paper. Original writing, heavy edit, final run-through.
  • I am one of three housemates who lives on the third floor.

Now that my train of thought has swirled from being hungry, Merritt's, and the rule of three... It is that time during my post where I should I would remind you of the things you should be doing. So grab a BLT, may I suggest from Merritt's, and I will talk to you soon!

XOXO,

BLT lover, Edie
