21 October, we have a date
Today I would like to focus on the initiative led by the European Heat Pump Association for the promotion and encouragement of heat pump technology. The aim of this initiative is to bring together heat pump enthusiasts and curious minds from all over Europe. Partners from various corners of the continent are joining forces to educate, inform and share knowledge about the benefits and innovations of heat pump technology.
October 21st is the chosen date
I don't think it's a coincidence that the chosen day was October 21st. You probably don't know this fact, but Thomas Edison invented the first practical electric light bulb on October 21st, in this case in 1879. As you know, this invention revolutionized the way people lived and worked, marking the beginning of the age of electricity. To this topic, there is a good film (although it may change my opinion that Benedict Cumberbatch is the protagonist) which is the The Current War.
A day full of events!
On the occasion of this day and with the idea of making heat pump technology visible, many entities, both companies and associations, have decided to organize their respective events to promote heat pumps in their area and make their contribution that day.
If you want to see the available events, on the EHPA website itself, you can see what activities and plans are available in addition to those that will be announced in the near future.
More initiatives of this style
Another event in this line this year is Heat Pump Week. This event in the UK is defined as "will be a pivotal event in driving forward the heat pump industry's progress across the UK". I don't know what events and other things are going to take place, but you can check out their social media or website below.
Apart from that: the first week of November (4.-10th) will be an officially declared “week of the heatpump” in Germany. There will be exibitions, preentations, and other activities take place at 75 places all over the republic.
How can each one contribute?
As my mother would say, Mother's Day is every day. That doesn't mean that on that day, all the brothers and sisters can eat together and give her a small gift.
In this case, those of us who work in this industry have the role of promoting a technology that is no longer unknown, but that still seems like magic. October 21 is a good day to reinforce that presence on social networks, tell your friends that it is celebrated and give visibility to our beloved heat pumps. Every grain counts!
