Some of these ideas are newly formed, others I've had as a kid bubbling around in my mind.
Here are just 21 of the most interesting technology-based future predictions I personally have. I understand some of these may come true, some may not but even if a single one comes true ... I'll be impressed with the young version of Mark :)
I write this article in hopes of creating more productive conversations about technology and the future of humanity because I largely disagree with the dystopian vision many have even though nobody has any idea what will actually happen.
Think of #21 for yourself while reading these and comment it below!
1. EVERYTHING Is About To Get WAY Weirder
Every culture reality tunnel will break down and become one…the concept of growing up with a certain language or country facing certain cultural and societal rules will disappear and the world will become one global interconnected culture. This will enable a shift in perspective and unite humanity not separate us.
2. Privacy Will Cease To Exist
The human eye will transform into a connected camera, everyone will know everything about anyone. Rendering crime, corruption and cheating obsolete at a worldwide scale.
3. Bye iPhone, TV, Screens, Signs, Keyboards
All technological inputs we use to access the digital world will transform into augmented and mixed reality interfaces.
4. Everything Will Eventually Be Abundantly Demonetized (Like Oxygen)
The days of paying for your bills until you die will go away. Technology will progressively transform the world from a survival scarcity landscape into an abundant land of infinite resources. Food, Energy, Technology, Access, Information will be like oxygen and open the door for equality of worldwide opportunity and move humanity into an inconceivable age of exponential advancement.
5. Space Exploration Unveils New Infinite Energy Sources
Interplanetary travel will give access to new much more powerful energy sources that can power planet earth for generations to come, for example, Helium-3 (He3) is already being mined from the Moon by Moon Express Private Space company. Larger implications involve largely increased bandwidth for energy & information will accelerate the speed of all technology.
6. Mental Illness Will Be Viewed As a Bacterial Infection Like The Bubonic Plague
New technological treatments like holistic functional medicine, virtual reality, TMI, Psilocybin psychotherapy, brain augmentation will make mental illness a thing of the past. Societal based technology frameworks will encourage mental wellness from birth and new solutions will be created for those who are already suffering from lack of mental resources.
7. Sugar, Industrialized Oils and Processed Food like Substances Will Be Known As The Worst Drugs of Our Society
A study funded by Bill Gates & Melinda Gates (Gates Foundation) found that poor diet including sugary drinks, junk food and frequent alcohol consumption is the #1 factor of death & disease in 2019. Yet almost every public place in the world sells these substances to anyone with money including young children. Increased information technology paves the path for health awareness and understanding of the toxicity of these chemicals.
8. Brain Augmentation (We Will Be The Robots)
We are already Cyborgs. Every human today walks around with a mini robot in their pocket and outsources their cognition. Neural interfaces will pave the path for ultimate integration and indistinguishable synchronicity with artificial intelligence. The human mind will be married with the infinite bandwidth of the internet instantaneously.
9. Bye Nation to Nation Warfare
All wide-scale violence will end due to decentralized governments, transparency and interconnected communication. This has already largely happened around the world due to today’s technology enabling communication & truth with smartphones. Today we do not have standard nation vs nation large army wars but rather new forms of warfare like cyber warfare which will largely become the dominant form of crime and Proxy wars like Syria and North Korea.
10. Technologically Enabled Entrepreneurship Eliminates Poverty
Technology will enable all individuals to become entrepreneurs from widespread access to all tools and create goods and services to sell across the planet from people living in Beverly Hills to Bombay. Small pop and mom shops will be able to sell to a global audience not just the constrained local community.
11. What’s Up Jarvis? Or Should I Say Alexa or Siri :)
By the Year 2028 it is estimated that everyone will have an artificial intelligence to run their entire lives. Similar to how having a GPS in your phone has opened the path for more cognitive space to think and ponder about other important aspects of life aside from logistics and technical details.
12. Artificially Intelligent Health Applications Fundamentally Transform the Healthcare Industry
Every year we see this happening more and more with Apple Health and another Healthcare company created by Naveen Jain with the main goal of “making chronic illness a choice for all” Viome is slowly making this into a reality. What happens when a device can create a full diagnosis more advanced than a hospital from your phone? Healthcare industry will be more and more oriented towards emergencies and the most important health problems.
13. Virtual Reality Enables Us to Experience Our Imagination
VR is the last computing platform. Anything that can possibly be imagined can be created and then experienced in virtual reality, no matter how impossible or inconceivable an environment may be in the real world. Virtual reality will give us the ability to vividly hop into our imaginations and experience them before deciding to create them in the real world.
14. History Will Get Reconfigured
New exponential technologies like artificial intelligence, heat waves, quantum computing will enable us to trace back to all previous events in history and know exactly what happened, when, why and how exactly it happened.
15. Language Will Become Obsolete
Language is currently the human operating system. Brain technological augmentation will rewrite the software of our minds and instant translation products & services will make language a non-factor in communication with every other human. Enabling humans to connect with one another regardless of any natural or cultural boundary from 100% connectivity.
16. Biggest Growing Tech Companies of Today Will Be Nation’s of Tomorrow
Apple, Amazon, Google as an example already generate more revenue than some overall countries as well as building the technology platforms of tomorrow will continue growing with unprecedented power.
17. Self-Driving Transportation Will Disrupt Everything
Imagine autonomous Amazon delivery trucks, interconnected self-driving cars capable of moving at 500 mph without fear of accidents or injury, as well as restaurant, sleep & VR cars. Self-driving vehicles will also create a ton of unemployment as one of the largest sectors belongs to Truck & Uber drivers.
18. Bottom 3 Billion Poorest People from Africa, India Join Internet and Create Boom in Economy
As of April 2019, 56.1% of the world's population has internet access, and once the remaining 44% of the human population join it will open the floodgates for widespread connectivity across the world to every single human being and create a massive economic boom of interconnected commerce and entrepreneurship.
19. Mixed Reality Interfaces Actually Makes Social Media “Human-Centered”
As of right now, social media is limited projecting letters, numbers and pictures to different colored pixels emitting light on a rectangle in your pocket. This is nothing close to a human being in front of you talking to you and sharing something vs the troll ready environment that social media creates due to technology at its infancy.
20. Nanotechnology, Quantum Computing, and Artificial Intelligence will pave the way for atom sized indestructible computers capable of advanced simulations
Computers are getting smaller and smaller. Play out the long tail of this technology alongside it’s merging with quantum computing & nanotechnology. One day, a computer chip will eventually be the size of an atom and able to compute very large simulations paving the pathway for universe sized simulations integrating collectivity with the universe into infinity.
21. End of Killing
I interviewed Rick Smith (Ep. 229), founder of THE TAZER. He recently came out with a book called “The End of Killing: How Our Newest Technologies Can Solve Humanity’s Oldest Problem” The gun is antiquated technology, and it is responsible for tens of thousands of senseless killings every year. Humanity has accepted that killing is an unavoidable fact of life―but Rick Smith argues that it doesn’t need to be this way and that we have the means to make the bullet obsolete in our lifetime.

4 年Some good predictions here. I wonder about the end of murder one. I see your point concerning guns/bullets but what about the ability to murder people with other weapons or even beat people to death with just hands, strangling etc.? ?? My added predication is that the different “races” as they are currently perceived would cease to exist and humans become one race with the various cultural differences being incorporated as norms for “one culture” but major defining factors that we use to identify as different would disappear.
