My 3 yr old thinks he has super-powers, which he uses to repeatedly zap me with his laser-beam hands. I don't mind. Heck, I think it's his pure belief in super-powers that gives me the biggest kick.
Sadly, as we get older, our belief in super-powers tends to fade. But I believe that the book, (yes the book), can not only can be so inspiring as to have you believe in super-powers again, but also provide the next great idea, lesson or even break from reality that's needed to develop your super-powers, or at least get you one step closer?
Don't believe me? Even the guy trying to send people to Mars had to first start with a book:
Musk borrowed Cantrell's textbooks on rocketry and propulsion and got reading, eventually able to recite from memory books like “Fundamentals of Astrodynamics,” and the “International Reference Guide to Space Launch Systems.” “He devoured those books,” Cantrell said. “He knew everything.”
You may stumble (I didn't finish 6 books last year), but you'll also stumble upon ideas you never would have found any other way, changing the trajectory of your life!
Inspired in part by Bill Gates, who shares his favorite books on gatesnotes.com, and Tim Ferriss, (tim.blog/podcast) who asks guests on his podcast what books they most often gift, I figure in sharing my own favorites from 2021, someone will suggest the great next book I should read this year.
The books are organized by super-power, though most are packed with many lessons or ideas that the reader will hopefully enjoy.
