20th Anniversary Appreciation

20th Anniversary Appreciation

Forgive me if I get a bit emotional…. but as we celebrate 20 years of Focus, I’m in a reflective mood, just back from a family reunion in Antigua and need to thank a number of people.

I set out on a journey 20 years ago a bit scared and settled into a new environment. My father was one of the Windrush generation…. probably with similar emotions in 1955! He earned his MBE and taught me that ethics are not negotiable and that equality, diversity and inclusion were (and are) worthy targets. He has had a huge impact on peoples' lives and in my small way, I hope Focus has a lasting impact on the clients and candidates we have met over the last 20 years. Thank you Mr Walker snr…. Dad.

I wanted to have a different approach to recruitment. Clients are not just bill payers and candidates not just commodities. I hope, if you have had an ongoing relationship with us, or just a passing phone call, that you can tell we value the whole person,?not just a number. Integrity that lasts is our bottom line.

Whether you entrusted us with the growth of your career or your company, we are extremely grateful to have been able to support you on your journey. We have learned from and grown with our clients and 20 years later, many, if not most, are good friends.

If this sounds like a retirement speech…. it's absolutely not!!

Along with my talented team I am recently joined by my two sons, Jaiden and Keelan. Their enthusiasm, energy and modernity is infectious. I am now planning a 10 year Renaissance for Focus, building on our 20 years experience to take us into new markets, deeper into existing markets and further refine our client services with enhanced AI technology.

So…. thank you to all the people we have travelled with, clients, candidates and mentors....

And…. I wouldn’t be Charles Walker if I didn’t finish by adding…. Please let us know of your career or business growth needs for 2024 so we can set off on the next part of our journey with a tailwind…..
