IS 2062 E350 is a high-tensile structural steel widely used in construction and engineering applications due to its superior mechanical properties, strength, and versatility. Governed by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), this steel grade is categorized into different sub-grades to meet specific application requirements: E350A, E350BR, E350BO, and E350C.

Sub-Grades and Their Applications

E350A

E350A is the most basic grade within the E350 classification. It is used where the requirements for high tensile strength and toughness are critical but without the need for special properties such as enhanced weldability or low-temperature impact resistance.

  • Applications: General construction, building frameworks, bridges, and other structures that require high-strength steel.

E350BR

E350BR (Boron Restricted) is designed to ensure better weldability by controlling the amount of boron in the steel. This makes it particularly suitable for welded structures.

  • Applications: Fabrication of welded structures, including construction equipment, bridges, and pipelines where superior weldability is essential.

E350BO

E350BO (Boron) steel has a controlled addition of boron, enhancing its hardenability. This grade is suitable for applications requiring higher strength and toughness.

E350C

E350C is a notch-toughness grade steel that provides better toughness and impact resistance, especially at lower temperatures. It is suitable for dynamic loading conditions and environments with significant temperature variations.
