20/50 Vision

20/50 Vision

I rise early these days. Before the world stirs, the steely quiet offers space to center and reflect. Imagine the progress and peace if pre-dawn lasted all day. In this most remarkable of years, two milestones brought muted celebrations yet unexpected gifts of stillness, clarity, and conviction. While the world shuttered and the country reckoned, my company turned 20 and my body turned 50. As I pause, I find myself realizing that I do know where the time went...

I grew up in a castle. There was a single room with two bunk beds, three brothers and a sister. At my darkest hour, I am never alone.

I went to school in a cornfield with a golden dome. As I wander, I remain grounded in faith and brotherhood.

I met a queen who taught me to chase and always be on time. I remain in pursuit, but I am never late.

I got cancer and learned that tomorrow is not promised. I am a survivor, filled with gifts of gratitude and urgency.

I started GetWellNetwork to make healthcare better for patients. On my longest days, I never tire.

I became a father and responsibility was immediately and indefinitely redefined. Be kind and strong, and always bet on girls.

I lost a child but gained an angel as time stopped on October 7, 2005. In my weakest moments, I am watched over.

I found a sage with a map to the fountain of youth. Every day is a treasure, guided by nutrition, exercise, mindfulness, sleep, and fellowship.

I launched a basketball league on Friday mornings before the sun rises. If there were no tomorrow, how hard would you play today?

I wept and raged for 9 minutes and 29 seconds. We are the change, and will build Graybridge to create a path to racial unity for all.

I am 50 and imperfect. Curious and evolving. In this golden era, it is time to swing big and make an impact.

I wind down early these days. As the world settles, the darkness quiets the noise and intensity that has become its hallmark. I am prepared to move with speed and focus, just as this spring brings with it vaccines, hope, and awakening. I anticipate time with cherished friends and leaders. Let’s find unexpected collaborations and create the future together — the best is ahead.
