2025: The year we stick to our resolutions (for real this time)

2025: The year we stick to our resolutions (for real this time)

Mental health is your wealth

Gone are the days when health goals were centred around six packs. In 2025, 80% of people are prioritising mental health and well-being over lifestyle and leisure (55%), and financial and career goals (at 60%). Stress management (32%), social support (26%), and good ol’ happiness (36%) top the list of what mental well-being looks like for most people. Interestingly, despite this focus, only 19% of people plan to dedicate more than 7 hours a week to self-care. Most stick to just 1-3 hours. Guess we’re all still figuring out how to squeeze in that meditation session between emails and Netflix binges.

The battle of the bulge

Weight management remains a top priority, with 42% of people naming it their primary fitness goal. However, only 7% are aiming to run a marathon or complete a fitness challenge - looks like the ‘midlife marathon crisis’ hasn’t caught on for everyone just yet!?

?Disconnect to reconnect

When it comes to relationships, 46% of respondents plan to spend more quality time with loved ones - because a solid hug is way more satisfying than a “like” on your Instagram post. And while only 12% are focusing on setting healthy boundaries, unplugging from work during weekends and taking vacations are becoming a priority for 27%. It’s about time we all learned that saying “no” to an extra Zoom meeting is an act of self-love.

Financial freedom, here we come

Saving more money or building an emergency fund is the top financial resolution for 44% of people this year. Meanwhile, 20% are sharpening their budgeting skills. And investing? It’s taking a back seat, with only 15% willing to dip their toes into the stock market or real estate. Looks like 2025 is shaping up to be a year of financial caution, not risk.?

The year of new beginnings

If 2025 were a movie, the title would be “New Beginnings” for 22% of consumers, With 30% of people dreaming of travel and 28% focused on career and financial growth, it’s clear we’re all itching for something fresh.

29% of people are committing to daily exercise routines, while others are embracing mindfulness (15%) and healthy eating habits (11%). As for habits to quit? Unhealthy foods and smoking/vaping top the list, but let’s not forget laziness and procrastination - 14% of respondents are officially calling it quits.

Are digital tools the secret to achieving your goals?

Maybe. While 88% of people find digital tools effective for sticking to their New Year’s resolutions, 41% of respondents still don’t use them at all. Of the people who do use apps, the MVP features are progress tracking (51%) and gentle reminders (30%) - because let’s be honest, we all need a little nudge sometimes. Only 1% of people care about social sharing in their goal apps. So, while your friend’s 10,000-step screenshot might not inspire you, your own progress just might.

Your blueprint for smashing your 2025 resolutions?

?? Prioritise tracking over sharing: For app developers and fitness platforms, focus on enhancing goal-tracking features rather than social sharing. Apps like Nike Run Club and Strava succeed because they help users measure progress, not just post about it.

?? Invest in personal growth: Self-improvement is a long-term game. Platforms like Headspace and Skillshare empower users by making therapy, mindfulness, and skill-building accessible, reinforcing sustainable habits.

?? Foster real connections: People crave quality time over digital noise. Apps like We’re Not Really Strangers and Cocoon prioritise deeper conversations and intimate connections over endless scrolling.

?? Plan for the future: Financial wellness is top of mind. Tools like Monzo and YNAB (You Need a Budget) make saving and budgeting effortless, helping users stay on track with long-term financial goals. 2025 is your year. Go crush it!
