2025 Is the Year of Building Your Personal Brand

As we step into a new year, it’s time to focus on something that’s often overlooked but incredibly powerful: you. Your personal brand isn’t just about your LinkedIn profile or the way you show up online—it’s about how you show up in every aspect of your life.

Did you know 84% of consumers believe that a company's reputation is influenced by the personal brand of its employees, according to a report by Forbes and 70% of hiring managers say that a strong personal brand is more important than a strong resume as per LinkedIn?

This year, let’s make it the year you invest in yourself, take control of your narrative, and build a foundation for growth and opportunities. Here’s how:

1. Create Your Personal Board of Directors

You wouldn’t expect a company to thrive without strong leadership, so why should your personal brand be any different? Building a personal board of directors means surrounding yourself with people who challenge you, support you, and help you grow. Pick two or three people who will hold you accountable when it comes to reaching your goals. They are there to support you, offer advice, provide tough love when necessary, and serve as a sounding board to help you achieve your goals. These are people who will keep you honest and who care about what’s in your best interest.?

  • Who should be on your board? Think of mentors, peers, family, and trusted friends who align with your values and goals. Choose people who will push you to dream bigger while holding you accountable.
  • How does this help your brand? Your board offers diverse perspectives, helping you refine your goals, make better decisions, and stay aligned with your vision. They’re your sounding board, your accountability partners, and sometimes, the push you need to step out of your comfort zone.

2. Build (and Own) Your Personal Brand

Your personal brand isn’t just a buzzword—it’s your reputation. In 2025, building your personal brand is no longer optional—it’s essential. In an increasingly competitive and fast-paced world, your personal brand is what sets you apart. People with strong personal brands aren’t just known—they’re trusted, respected, and memorable. Their brand reflects their values, expertise, and authenticity, shaping how they’re perceived in both their industry and community. Think about leaders like Oprah Winfrey, whose brand is built on empowerment and connection, or Elon Musk, who is synonymous with innovation and bold ideas. Their strong personal brands have opened doors, built loyal audiences, and positioned them as go-to voices in their fields. A strong personal brand isn’t about self-promotion—it’s about showing up consistently, adding value, and shaping the narrative of who you are and what you stand for. When done right, it’s a catalyst for opportunities, influence, and impact.

  • Be consistent. Align your actions, values, and communication so people know exactly who you are and what you stand for.
  • Own your narrative. Don’t let others define your story. Share your wins, lessons, and expertise authentically, whether through storytelling at events or sharing insights online.
  • Be visible. Show up at key events, build relationships, and let people see your passion and expertise firsthand. Personal branding happens both online and offline—never underestimate the power of a handshake or meaningful conversation.

3. Invest in You

If you’re waiting for someone else to put you at the top of their priority list, it’s time to stop. Nobody will invest in you more than you invest in yourself. Investing is not about money; it’s about putting time, effort, expertise, and love into yourself. Investing in yourself is tied to learning because it’s about putting your best foot forward in how you show up in the world.?

I spend time learning because I want to give myself the best opportunity to be happy and succeed. I don’t want to be left behind because I don’t know things!? I truly feel that if I’m not learning, I’m not growing.?

Being proficient in new things has always been beneficial, but more so now as the environment around us changes constantly. Life is moving at a million miles a minute, so the number of things we need to educate ourselves on has grown exponentially.?

You don’t want to stand still; you want to move forward and grow. Lifelong learning is stimulating, motivating, and inspiring. It’s empowering and, as a result, can enhance your confidence.?

  • Invest in skills: What’s one thing you’ve always wanted to master? Whether it’s public speaking, a new language, or industry-specific knowledge, commit to learning and growing.
  • Invest in rest: Personal growth doesn’t happen when you’re burnt out. Make time for rest, reflection, and activities that recharge you.
  • Invest in relationships: Building your network isn’t about collecting business cards—it’s about nurturing relationships that will open doors and create opportunities.

2025: Your Year to Build the Life You Want

This year isn’t about waiting for opportunities—it’s about creating them. By surrounding yourself with the right people, defining your personal brand, and investing in yourself, you’re setting the stage for growth, success, and impact.

Remember: You are your greatest asset. The more you invest in yourself, the greater your return will be.

Let’s make 2025 the year you build the foundation for the life and career you’ve always envisioned. Are you ready to start??

Maha,?"Create Your Personal Board of Directors" is one of my favorites. I noted in your book that you have three people. Curious about where and how to think about getting people on board that get you out of your comfort zone? And how often do you switch them up to get fresh perspectives?
