2025: A Fresh Chapter, but Not a Blank Slate

If the past couple of years have taught me anything, it’s that life rarely goes according to plan- and often, that’s where the real growth happens. 2024 wasn’t a year of perfectly executed goals or smooth sailing. It was messy, humbling, and full of lessons that forced me to pause, reflect, and rethink what “progress” truly means.
As we step into 2025, I’m embracing what I call the messy middle: that space where things don’t unfold perfectly, but there’s still room for connection, growth, and unexpected joy. This year, I’m not chasing perfection or making a list of lofty resolutions. Instead, I’m focusing on something simpler yet profoundly meaningful: showing up.
Showing up for the little things that brighten my days, for the people who make life richer, and for the work that continually reminds me why I began this journey in the first place. And as I reflect on what this mindset means in practice, I’m reminded of the lessons 2024 taught me- lessons about finding strength in the messiness and joy in unexpected places.
What the “Messy Middle” Taught Me
Last year, my health forced me to let go of a lot of what I thought I had to do. That felt uncomfortable—painfully so at times. But somewhere between managing a business, raising four kids, and learning to prioritise recovery, I realised that holding on too tightly isn’t strength—it’s fear.
Strength is recognising when to step back. It’s finding joy in the little wins—like my kids’ laughter or the quiet satisfaction of walking those 10,000 steps I used to take for granted. It’s also about asking for help when you need it, whether from your team, your friends, or even a good podcast that reminds you you’re not alone.
Stepping back has also taught me that perfection isn’t just unattainable—it’s an illusion that stifles growth. There’s always more to do, learn, or achieve, and chasing perfection only moves the goalposts further. Instead, I’m learning to embrace being enough, just as I am.
So this year, I’m not chasing perfection. I’m chasing presence.
A Year of Meaningful Momentum
That doesn’t mean I’m slowing down completely. In fact, I’m more excited than ever about what’s ahead for the Chatterbox community. Last year, we launched EmpowerED, our parent newsletter, and watched it become a space where families could find support, clarity, and even a little humour during tough times. Seeing that grow has been incredibly rewarding.
We also leaned into community with Thriving Therapists for Kids, a space where clinicians could connect, grow, and share the joys and challenges of working in allied health. It’s so rewarding to be part of a community of like-minded professionals, all striving to learn, support one another, and make a difference.
In 2025, I’m looking forward to building on that momentum—developing practical resources that support clinicians and families, strengthening connections within our community, and creating meaningful moments that remind us why we’re so passionate about this work.
What About You?
The messy middle is where real growth happens, so what’s one thing you’re ready to let go of this year? Whether it’s the pressure to do it all or the fear of starting fresh, letting go creates space for what truly matters. Whatever it is, I hope you find the courage to release it.

And while you’re at it, think about what you want to hold onto. For me, it’s the little wins. The conversations that make me feel connected. The moments of calm in a life that’s anything but.
Here’s to What’s Next
2025 isn’t a blank slate—it’s a continuation of everything we’ve been building together. It’s going to be messy, and it’s going to be meaningful. So, here’s to showing up—not for perfection, but for progress, connection, and all the little moments that remind us why we keep going.
If you’re ready to embrace the year ahead—messy middle and all—let’s do it together. Here’s to releasing what no longer serves us, embracing what truly matters, and finding joy in the journey.
Cheers to 2025,
Jen
