2025 Embedded Vision Summit: Topics and Themes to Look Forward To

2025 Embedded Vision Summit: Topics and Themes to Look Forward To

A conversation with Edge AI and Vision Alliance Founder, Jeff Bier

As the Embedded Vision Summit prepares for its 15th year, we had the opportunity to sit down with Jeff Bier, founder of the Edge AI and Vision Alliance. We explored the benefits of speaking at the Summit, the evolving themes and topics, and what makes this event a must-attend for professionals in the AI and computer vision industry.

Alliance: Why might someone consider speaking at the Summit?

Jeff: Speaking at the Summit offers a unique opportunity to share practical insights and experiences with an appreciative audience. Unlike academic conferences that focus on theoretical advancements, the Summit is about practical techniques and real-world applications. Presenters showcase how they've successfully integrated AI and computer vision into products, sharing both the challenges and solutions they've encountered. This is invaluable for attendees who are eager to learn from those who have navigated similar paths. Additionally, speakers benefit from expanding their professional networks, meeting peers, potential partners and even investors who are focused on AI and computer vision technology.

Alliance: What are some of the key topics and trends you anticipate for the 2025 Summit?

Jeff: The Summit is all about practicality—how to incorporate AI and computer vision into products effectively. We're not about hype; we're about designing, developing and deploying products and solutions for end customers. The program focuses on understanding the capabilities and limitations of current technologies, the trade-offs involved and the techniques that have proven successful. As we move into 2025, I expect a growing emphasis on multimodal perception—integrating various sensor and non-sensor data sources to enhance machine understanding—which is becoming increasingly feasible thanks to large multimodal models, vision language models and compositions combining conventional vision models with LLMs and agents. ? While cutting-edge topics like vision language models and AI agents are exciting, our focus remains on gaining understanding of what works in the real world, and how to? overcome the sometimes-hidden? challenges. The Summit program provides system developers insights? into selecting the right technologies and effectively integrating them into products.

Alliance: What benefits do speakers gain from presenting at the Summit?

Jeff: For many, it's about sharing knowledge and contributing to the community. Presenters often find that preparing their talks helps refine their understanding of the subject. They also receive valuable feedback from our team and the audience, which can be incredibly insightful. Additionally, the Summit provides a platform to connect with peers, potential collaborators, customers, suppliers and investors. It's a chance to showcase your work to an audience that truly understands and appreciates the technical nuances. Speakers find that the caliber of audience questions is high, prompting reflection and learning.

Alliance: Any advice for those interested in submitting a proposal for the 2025 Summit?

Jeff: Think about what you wish that you, as an industry professional, had known a year or two ago. What insights or lessons would have made your journey smoother? Topics that address real-world problems, highlight technical challenges and explore real applications are always engaging. Sharing your experiences can inspire others and help them avoid common pitfalls. It's important to focus on practical aspects, such as how to select and integrate the right technologies.

The Embedded Vision Summit continues to be the premier event for those looking to deepen their understanding of AI and computer vision in products. Whether you're interested in speaking or attending, the Summit offers a wealth of knowledge and networking opportunities. Don't miss your chance to be part of this vibrant community.
