2024: A Year of Transformation

As I look back on 2024, it feels like a rollercoaster ride filled with growth, challenges, and memorable experiences. The first six months were all about laying the foundation—adapting, learning, and preparing for the bigger leaps ahead. Although there is a lot that happened but here's a glimpse of how the journey unfolded:

?? January: Starting with Healthy Habits

The year began with a promise to prioritize my health (just like the resolution taken at the beginning of every year). I committed to having a nutritious Indian breakfast before work, incorporating fruits, nuts, and seeds. And, I understood that it is the consistency and the discipline that matters and not “I don’t have enough time in the morning”. This however only lasted for a little over 31 days.

?? February: Triumph Over Self-Doubt

Being underconfident about my profile right from the start made me apply to 15 universities. Yep, 15! I was that underconfident. An average GPA, weak GMAT score, mismatched work experience, and only a handful of certifications made me think a lot about my chances of getting admitted into my desired program. After applying to 15 universities, I was ecstatic to receive 12 admits. Despite so many reasons(or maybe it was all in my head), I believe it was my story that resonated with the admission committee. Crafting a purposeful statement of intent proved more important than superficial metrics. This success reaffirmed that authenticity and clarity can make all the difference.

?? March: Expanding Horizons

March was about exploration—both internal and external. I attended numerous events related to studying abroad, and while the programs were insightful, the real highlight was the experience itself. From mingling with like-minded individuals to enjoying the luxurious vibes of five-star venues, every moment fueled my aspirations. And it made me all the more confident about my decisions. And, amidst all this, I took a break to reconnect with home. For the very first time after a long while, I went back home to celebrate Holi with my family, which was a whole lot of emotions as no one other than my sister knew that I was coming. At times all you need is an external push to boost your confidence especially when you are taking life-altering decisions.

?? ?? April: Reconnecting with Friends

April was all about catching up with old friends, and when I say catching up, I mean going as far as flying to Hyderabad just to meet them and devour Hyderabadi Mandi biryani. No regrets. The biryani was worth every mile. Between late-night walks, laughter, and food comas, this month reminded me how important it is to pause and make time for the people who make life brighter.

?? ?? May: An Artistic Escape

While the weekdays were filled with work commitments and academic preparations, creating a productive balance was necessary, so I explored my artistic side again. The weekends turned into artistic escapades with trying a new art style every time like resin art, palette knife painting, textured painting, and more. Art is the best therapy.

?? June: Milestones and Goodbyes

This was a whirlwind month. The next 2 years of my life were entirely dependent on this one. I saw my dream into making with my first visa interview approval, saw my friends get married, visited my undergrad university after 4 years (Bhubaneswar, you're beautiful!), resigned from my job, received a heartfelt farewell, and said goodbye to my cozy Bengaluru apartment. Packed up memories of 1 whole year and shed tears, as I prepared for the next chapter and took that last flight back home.

Reflecting on these first six months of 2024, I realize they were all about transitions—building healthier habits, overcoming insecurities, rekindling old bonds, and preparing for an entirely new chapter. It was about stepping out of my comfort zone, embracing change, and trusting myself through each step.

Stay tuned for the next part, where I dive into the experiences that shaped the latter half of my 2024 journey!

Happy New Year! ????
