2024 has been a milestone year at Madrona Venture Labs, and we’re grateful to our community of founders, investors, and advisors for being part of it. Together, we’ve made great strides and celebrated shared successes. Here are some highlights from the year as we look forward to continued progress.
Spinouts launched & funded
At MVL, we have a longstanding history of creating innovative travel startups and have been at the forefront of building enterprise AI products. This year, we are excited to have announced the spinout of Otto the Agent, an AI-based travel agent that autonomously plans, books, and ensures business travelers have the perfect trip.

Celebrated our 10-year anniversary
This year marked our 10th anniversary at MVL. Since the beginning, we've strived to embody Madrona's "Day One for the Long Run" commitment to founders as early co-builders and investors. As we reflect on the past 10 years, we are filled with gratitude for all the people—founders, advisors, and investors—who have trusted and believed in us.
Engaged our Founder community
Leap had a productive 2024 with a diverse line-up of six events, including a startup pitching 101 session, a founder panel, a summer social picnic, and taking the show on the road with events in South Lake Union, Fremont, and Green Lake.
Leap is a community of high-potential entrepreneurs aimed at introducing them to the growing and vibrant local startup ecosystem and helping them build relationships with fellow innovators, experienced builders, industry experts, and top VCs. Launched Saturday at the Park
?Designed to accommodate busy mid-week schedules and families, Saturday at the Park is a community event series that allows founders and aspiring founders to connect with MVL partners, investors, and the greater tech community in a relaxed, accessible, outdoor setting, while kids play and attendees enjoy coffee and lite bites.

Expanded spotlights & launched cheat codes
This year, we launched Cheat Codes, a series sharing insights on GenAI, the intersection of technology, GenAI and talent, startup fundamentals like validation and pitching, and domain ideas we're actively exploring. We also expanded our spotlights to include more founders, investors, advisors, and MVL talent.

Welcomed new people
We welcomed our new Product Lead, Elizabeth Webber, this year. Elizabet brings a wealth of experience in Product Management Strategy and Leadership, with expertise in Conversation Intelligence, AI/ML, and monetization.
We brought on five interns this year—learn more about their experience and our internship program here.
Deepened our UW connection
This year, we hosted over 150+ students at our offices, from the UW Foster School of Business to the students we led through our UW Allen School Startup Seminar. The MVL team, alongside members of our community, Joe Heitzeberg (Crowd Cow), David Lee and Dae Kim (NoxuData), Peter Williams (Muir AI), and Raiham Malik (mAlIk Software), guided an outstanding cohort of students through the program.?
Special thanks to MVL Advisor and UW Allen School Professor Kurtis Heimerl for his dedication to empowering the next generation of founders. The seminar concluded with over 25 student teams developing and pitching their startup ideas at the MVL offices to a panel of VC judges: Mia Lewin, Elisa La Cava, and Ken Horenstein.
And hosted over a dozen events for friends of MVL?
As 2024 comes to a close, we express our gratitude for the collaborative spirit that defines our community and look forward to even greater achievements in the coming year.?
