In response to the devastating floods in Spain, insurance companies are coordinating with the government-backed Consorcio de Compensación de Seguros (CCS), a public entity that compensates policyholders for extraordinary natural events like these floods. CCS takes charge when damages stem from severe natural phenomena, ensuring that insured properties are covered once a claim is filed.
Spanish residents with up-to-date property insurance can file their claims through CCS, which reimburses policyholders for physical damages to homes, vehicles, and businesses. Additionally, it provides compensation for secondary losses, such as lost rental income or expenses from temporary accommodation due to uninhabitable properties

For uninsured properties or claims outside the scope of CCS, Spanish consumer groups have urged the government to create additional assistance programs. Insurers and CCS are working diligently, with adjusters assessing the most affected regions in Andalucía, Castilla-La Mancha, and Valencia, to expedite claims processing.
