2024 Review

2024 Review

How are you on this fine Austin day?

I want to also express my gratitude for meeting you in 2024. With 8 billion people on this planet, what are the odds of us meeting??

Just wanted you to know that I am grateful for you and I’d love to take this opportunity to do my 2024 wrap-up with you.

Wow. What a year! On January 20th, after spending weeks dealing with an oil leak that caused my car to suffer from severe issues and had to be towed, they finally admitted to the damages ($3,800+) they caused from over tightening a bolt that was way too big for the oil pan. They didn’t cover the whole bill, but it was still better than coming out of my own pocket as it was damaged by them, and also still under warranty.

I drove from Montreal to Austin in 12 days, having stopped in Columbus, Nashville, and Memphis. And, of course, being caught in a snowstorm the first night after leaving Montreal made the first leg of the journey only a 4-hour drive. Since I shadowboxed every morning, I wanted to continue shadowboxing during the drive. So I was doing some questionable $hit and some questionable places. Exhibit A.

Even the first 4 hours were eventful. I was so glad to be out of Quebec, I was driving way too fast down the highway. I got pulled over.

I also wrote a 3-page heartfelt letter to outline why I did what I did. Long story short, I just couldn’t wait to get out of Montreal.

Seeing Columbus was great too. I was able to meet one of my clients in person. I have tremendous respect for Brandon, being an Olympian turned real estate developer. He’s beyond cool. He showed me the cool properties he owns and how he was turning them into sweet event spaces. So, if you are running major events in Columbus, let me know. I know a guy. Also, I highly recommend the Book Loft and Columbus Museum of Art.

Nashville was cute. I saw two women fist-fighting on Broadway in broad daylight. I also got yelled at by someone at Bitcoin Park at one of the events as I published a crypto dictionary for beginners, and I was giving it to another attendee who had no idea what crypto was. I was scolded as it’s Bitcoin Park, and they don’t deal with crypto there. Bitcoin only. I haven’t really met Maxis before that. So that was memorable too. But, if you do want to visit Nashville at Bitcoin Park, let me know. I know a guy. The Frist Art Museum was awesome too. I made two vision boards while I was there. I stayed until they closed. Exhibit B.

Memphis was a quick stop. Really was to see Graceland. I didn’t know I’d be crying so much seeing the final resting place of Elvis. He passed away well before my time, but I felt really sad seeing his daughter and grandson’s grave next to his.

Then, after a whole lot of speeding, I finally got me and Charlie (my Mini Cooper) safely in Austin. Yes, 80% of all my things were in my Mini. Exhibit C. Honestly do not know how that was possible.

As you know, I am absolutely loving Austin so far. Meeting all my new friends in Austin was incredible too. Honestly too many to name. I love you all. The first summer was a struggle though.

Other highlights include meeting Sam Parr a couple of times before he moved to Connecticut and running into Steph Smith, someone who worked with Sam Parr and whom I admire greatly. I then had to take 5 weeks to see mom as she had an accident and broke her right wrist. Mom and I are super close, and I can’t wait to take her on more trips. While I was with mom, we experienced the largest earthquake in 25 years. I finally had a glimpse of what it might feel like to be a parent when I called mom from grandma’s. Mom was scared and shaken up. I have never gotten from grandma’s to mom’s so fast. The whole time getting there, I was crying. I wonder if that’s what parenthood feels like. When you love someone so much, seeing them in pain or scared completely shatters me.

On a more positive note, randomly running into Jordan Peterson on July 22nd at Whole Foods is a moment I will always forget. I’ve never been so nervous meeting someone. I realized how much he’s changed my life and my outlook on life and how grateful I am for his lessons. So very grateful to have an actual conversation with him. He was kind, genuine and attentive. We bonded over our mutual hatred of Trudeau.

Also, after being an atheist for over 20 years, I was baptized (again) on October 20th. Never, ever, thought I’d go back to church.

Then, meeting Lei at the All-In Summit ‘24, hearing people like JD Vance, Elon Musk, John Mearsheimer, and Jeffrey Sachs, and finally getting JCal to come to my All-In fan meetups are some of the major highlights for 2024 as well.

However, confirming Jesse’s passing right before Thanksgiving devastated me. Jesse was my boyfriend when I lived in Australia. I’ve been searching for Jesse for over two years. I couldn’t find him on social media (I also wasn’t Facebook active for over a decade), but I also didn’t find anything about Jesse on Google. For over two years, I would Google his full name and “memorial”, “obituary” and etc, but nothing. Until the week before Thanksgiving, I prayed for God to give me a sign. That Sunday, after our Church Thanksgiving get-together, I Googled again, just like I normally would, and I saw the plaque that was on Jesse’s grave. I was able to contact the cemetery, and they put me in touch with his mum. Although I am grateful to have a conversation with his mum, I wish it was under different circumstances. I am not taking it well. Currently still in denial.

Oh, and I’ve been sober since Jan 1st, 2024. Not sure if I will continue the sobriety. I don’t need alcohol to feel comfortable in my own skin anymore. Also, I can sleep so much better now.

Also, being able to triple one of my client’s revenue in 2024, boosting all partnerships by 135-170% made me realize how much I love getting $hit done. So if you have problems scaling your company, I know a guy.

Anyway, I am looking forward to 2025 and connecting with you all more.

Lots of love and happy new year!

Alice

PS. Also, I just onboarded a new client, CollBox, who streamlines accounts receivable for legal firms. Let me know if you know someone who wants to get your invoices paid 40% faster while reducing 80% of time spent chasing invoices.

PSS. Oh, also, if you haven't been to a Boardwalk held by the lovely ElleBeecher yet, you're missing out. Haha. Elle is the best. However, Elle is out of town this upcoming Sat, Jan 4th, so I am taking over hosting the walk. Come join us. We meet at Bennu Coffee on Congress (515 S Congress Ave, Austin, TX 78704) at 8AM. Hope to see you there. Wearing something comfy to walk in and a topic you'd like to discuss for the 5 mile walk.

PSSS. So....my left wrist hurts from a recurring boxing injury. If you have any tips on how to recover, LMK too please.

The shadow boxing clip was a highlight for sure!!! Thanks for sharing Alice. Where can I read this 3 page letter about Montreal, sounds like a good read!! ????????♂? It must feel somewhat liberating to share your story. Your bravery is admirable. Wishing you all the best in the coming year, and if you visit Vancouver please say hi. ??
