2024 Recap: Innovation, Expansion, and a Leap of Faith

2024 Recap: Innovation, Expansion, and a Leap of Faith

As 2024 comes to a close, I wanted to share some exciting updates about my journey this year and the big shifts ahead.

After a decade of working on transformative engineering projects and leading teams at companies like WSP, AllNorth, Urban Systems & Associated Engineering, I decided it was time to step into a new chapter. Earlier this year, I made the leap to focus entirely on growing my own business—a decision driven by a vision:

"To transform the architecture, engineering and construction industry through automation and innovation."

The Highlights of 2024:

Major Projects Completed:

WSP:

  1. Regional Express Rail - On Corridor, Ontario: Led civil design for drainage systems and pump station site plans. Client: Metrolinx.
  2. Le Port De Valleyfield, Quebec: Focused on 3D modeling, volume calculations, and efficient data processing. Client: Le Port De Valleyfield.
  3. Jericho Pump Station, Metro Vancouver: Designed infrastructure for a new booster pump station. Client: Metro Vancouver.
  4. Coquitlam Water Main #4, Metro Vancouver: Delivered civil infrastructure design for a seismically resilient water main. Client: Metro Vancouver.

Automation & Innovation:

  • Built hundreds of Dynamo and Python scripts that streamlined workflows for Civil 3D and Revit users.
  • Expanded automation services across Canada and Europe, helping clients reduce project turnaround times by an average of 40% and improve efficiency.
  • Developed tools that integrate seamlessly with existing processes, creating tangible time and cost savings for clients.

New Ventures:

  • Took over 'Koordinator Ltd' as a CEO a growing company my father established in 1999, specializing in engineering, construction, automation, and design services.
  • Built teams in Vancouver, Dubai, Moscow and Dagestan, working across multiple projects and delivering impactful results in AEC industry.
  • Expanded operations to offer training and consultation services, empowering other professionals to adopt cutting-edge tools and methodologies.

Growing My Personal Brand:

  • Shared my journey on LinkedIn and YouTube, connecting with like-minded professionals and growing a community Dynamo for Civil 3D passionate about engineering and innovation in AEC industry.
  • Launched educational content, including Dynamo tutorials, to help others streamline their workflows, and a Newsletter to keep everyone informed of my latest educational courses on the subject of automation in AEC.

Personal Achievements:

  • Becoming a Canadian citizen this year was a truly special moment for me—a culmination of 11 years of hard work and a new chapter in my life.
  • Diving into the programming world has been an eye-opening journey, enhancing my skills and opening doors to exciting opportunities.
  • This year, I had the opportunity to travel extensively, visiting 8 countries and experiencing the vibrant cultures of cities like Vancouver, Toronto, New-York, Seattle, Hawaii, Los-Angeles, London, Dubai, Istanbul, Yerevan, Tbilisi, Moscow and Dagestan. These journeys enriched my perspective and inspired both personal and professional growth.
  • Staying disciplined with fitness has been a cornerstone of my year, keeping me energized and focused while juggling a demanding professional and personal life. Completing a triathlon this year was a defining moment—an intense challenge that tested my mental and physical limits. Training daily, whether in the calm of early mornings or late nights after work, became a vital practice that grounded me and reinforced the discipline I carry into every aspect of my life. What’s Next?

2025 will be all about scaling these efforts. From advancing automation tools to expanding my team’s capabilities, I’m committed to delivering even greater value to my clients. With a focus on innovation and collaboration, I’m looking forward to building solutions that shape the future of engineering.

If we haven’t connected recently, I’d love to catch up and explore how we might collaborate in the future. Please feel free to reply to dm me or schedule a time to chat.

Thank you for being part of my journey!
