2024 Planning Idea
2024 planning idea
I attended the Military Veteran Startup Conference in SF this past week. If you have any ties to Tech / Start-ups / Military / Veterans / Defense then I recommend you plan on attending next year.
Background / Context:
(A) The Military Veteran Startup Conference that just happened in SF was a one of a kind event.?
I was fortunate enough to attend and came in knowing a few others who were attending. However, the entire event far exceeded my expectations.?
(B) Quality of people attending, quantity of people attending, and focus on creating value is unmatched in any military of veteran / defense related event I have ever engaged with.?
Smart and savvy founders working to scale a wide array of companies, smart VCs looking for investments, and a slew of other stakeholders ranging from advisors, consultants, operators, and many others.?
(C) If you have any connection to the military / start-up /? veteran / tech world this is something you need to mark your calendars for in 2024.?
If you lack a direct connection, but are just tired of reading another article about Veteran suicide rates, show up. You will probably leave far more optimistic about the untold stories of Veteran’s having an impact in start-ups / tech / defense / business overall and so many other arenas.?
(D) This event is the best-in-class business development opportunity for anyone looking to access the diverse array of founders and VCs who attend (and you can check out the site to see a full list). It is more than just Veteran’s and people in the defense space - so drop by next year to see for yourself.?
(E) Tim Hsia has been the driving force putting much of this together.?
The background on Tim: I looked up to and across at Tim during my first year at West Point in 2003 / 2004, and he (as a very accomplished senior), seemed like a Greek god to me at the time.?
Fast forward twenty years. Tim is still someone I look up to in dozens of ways (and know far better), and he actually IS a Greek god in many ways as I have come to find out.?
The positive impact he has on those around him is far beyond what I am likely to achieve in my life. If you have the chance to work with Tim on any level, I recommend you jump in with both feet. If you are not involved with Service2School (which he Co-Founded), then I strongly recommend you take a look. Super grateful to know you Tim!
Thanks to the team who put this event together including: Tim Hsia , Brendan Aronson , Carina Cho , Context VC , and the many sponsors and others who had a hand in it.?
To friends (old and new) it was great to catch up: Orlando Zambrano , Drew Wolgemuth , Steven Lee , Socrates Rosenfeld , Bradley C. Harrison , Charlie Eadie , Luke Hutchison , Mason Hamlett , Andy Goehring , Bruce Cleveland etc
PS I am focused on a few things in 2023.
1) Helping people that sell on Amazon grow their revenue
2) Helping publishers and companies scale / refine / optimize their affiliate marketing and digital marketing
3) Finding commerce related / commerce enabling companies to invest in (think software and services for brands, retailers, etc).
Reach out if any of these are worth chatting about.

2 年Ben Faw - Fantastic article. I have been working with a son (Alexander Randazzo) of a classmate on a fantastic film project (called Lonesome Soldier) that highlights veteran PTSD, based on a real story. I applaud your work with the veteran business community!

2 年Ben Faw, I sure don't recognize this Tim guy you are referencing! I'll strive to be a fraction as good as you describe him. More importantly, the event was fun because you were there! So thank you for dropping by. I too am trying to limit the amount of conferences I attend but know that sometimes nothing beats in person relationship building. Many veterans including myself look up to how and what you've accomplished. You have had 2 successful exits and I'm sure you will have much more tremendous success in the years and decades ahead. We should have you on stage next year and I will message you about that soon. Wishing you, your family, and your team success this year. It'll be a challenging year but everyone who was at MVS23 has done harder things. ??????????????????
