2024 Open Doors Report: Insights and Reflections

• The U.S. is the world’s top study destination with over 1.1 million international students during the 2023–24 school year, a 7% increase over the previous year. However, much of the enrollment increase has been driven by record numbers in graduate and OPT programs.?
• With over 3,000 colleges and universities, the U.S. has the capacity to accept more international students. This contrasts with several other English-speaking nations, such as the United Kingdom and Canada, which have recently restricted international student numbers.??

• U.S. universities are actively recruiting international students and are eager to welcome them to top programs in STEM, Business, and more.??
