New Brunswickers headed to the polls yesterday, October 21, to elect the next Government of New Brunswick. The Legislature was dissolved by Premier Blaine Higgs on September 19, 2024.?

Throughout the campaign, it was a very close race between Blaine Higgs and Susan Holt for the province's next Premier. After an exciting evening, New Brunswickers voted for change. Susan Holt and the New Brunswick Liberal Party | Parti libéral du Nouveau-Brunswick won the election, forming a majority government with 31 seats in the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick . Susan Holt has also made history in the province as New Brunswick’s first female Premier.??

Voter turnout in yesterday’s election was roughly 66.09%, slightly lower than the 2020 turnout at 66.14% and the 2018 result at 66.4%. This election also saw a record number of female MLAs elected, with 17 women elected across the province.??
