The 2024 NASA Space Apps Challenge returns to Folsom CA on October 5 & 6

I and Ingrid Rosten are excited to announce that the annual NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration Space Apps Challenge hackathon will return to the Sacramento, California region again in 2024. Over the weekend of October 5-6, teams of people across all ages and backgrounds - from high schoolers on up - will be innovating at Granite City Workspaces in Folsom.?

If you or your organization want to be associated with a community-wide STEAM-powered event (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) that will create innovative solutions to benefit humanity, we would love to include you as a sponsor or fellow volunteer.

The NASA International Space Apps Challenge (Space Apps) is an international hackathon for coders, scientists, designers, artists, storytellers, makers, builders, technologists, and others in cities around the world. Teams utilize NASA’s free and open data and any other available resources to address real-world problems on Earth and in Space. This provides teams the opportunity to learn how to use these resources to solve the challenges presented by NASA.

The hackathon concludes on Sunday afternoon with team presentations and local judging of all the projects. The winners from our local event are then sent to NASA for another round of judging against the winners from every other Space Apps event. From those submissions will come the winners of several Global Awards.?

Building off of the successes and momentum of our previous years hosting this event, we are already working to create a fun, safe, and engaging 48-hour free event for participants of all ages. We intend to create an environment where a community of Scientists, Coders, Technologists, Designers, Students and more come together to solve some of the world's pressing problems.? We are proud to be a part of this type of innovative collaboration and are especially thrilled to have a larger organizing team already formed and working together this far in advance!

After last year's event in Folsom, many people came to us and said something like

"This was so fantastic to see all of these teams that created so many amazing things in only one weekend. I wish I knew about it sooner so I could have gotten more involved or promoted it more."

Now is your chance!

We invite others from around our region to join the experience of an international event that connects data and resources from the world of NASA with individuals and teams at a local level.

If you have any questions or want to have a conversation about how to get involved, please contact me or Ingrid Rosten . We also appreciate any introductions or referrals for sponsors. The people working on these teams are self-selected to be talented, self-motivated, creative, and positive team members. Exactly the people that help make a company thrive - because we have seen them thrive together in this exciting and fun weekend.

We look forward to sharing more as the event draws closer. Connect with me and Ingrid so you can be a part of it!

Here are some photos from previous years' events in Folsom to enjoy.
