2024 Lenovo Mobile Workstation lineup
#69
Lenovo have just launched their brand new, Intel-based, AI Ready, Mobile Workstation lineup. Some of the new models have received at completely new design and others have been improved on several points, to ensure the stability and performance is at its max.
Enhanced Employee Experience
So what have we done, you might ask... Well for a starters the P14s Gen 5 is a completely new design, as goes for the P16s gen 3 and the P1 Gen 7.
They have all received the communication bar, new 16:10 panels with higher refresh rates, which are more crisp and bright. And the RJ-45 ethernet port in the P16v is back! Lastly we have improved our renowned keyboards with additional "bumps" at the "Volume", "Insert", "Fn" and "Enter" keys for the visually impaired, and of course added a Microsoft CoPilot key. Some will also spot (and welcome) the switch of "Ctrl" and "Fn" key, which is a general feature on all ThinkPads for 2024. These models are truly designed for all!
Serviceability and responsible design
When it comes to serviceability, nobody beats Lenovo! We have improved on all platforms and most of the internal components can now be replaced, like Memory, SSDs, Batteries and WLAN/WWAN modules. You can even replace the keyboards from the from, by removing two screws in the bottom, without even opening the notebook! Lenovo have also teamed up with iFixit and our ratings are all above 9 out of 10 in rating for a great part of our new notebooks.
We have increased the use of sustainable materials and are now delivering our workstations in a 100% plastic free packaging. We continue to use low-temperature soldering, which saves the Earth from >5000 tons of annual Carbon emissions.
We use recycled materials in all our mobile workstations, and just to pick one i the lineup, the P1 Gen 7 now use up to 75% recycled Aluminum in the Top cover (lid) and 85% recycled plastic on the keys. Overall the material reused in the P1 Gen 7 is over 28%, which is one of the best in its class.
AI Everywhere
As mentioned above the new redesigned models will get a Microsoft CoPilot button and you will be able to enjoy the full Microsoft CoPilot experience when launched in second half of 2024. You get an all-new level of visualization and AI-augmented performance with the new NVIDIA RTX Ada GPUs as well. And last, but not least, Both Intel and AMD have launched CPUs with build in AI accelerators called NPUs (Neural Processing Unit). These help accelerate everyday tedious tasks, such as blurring of backgrounds in Teams, denoising audio from meetings and other things, leaving the CPU and GPU to do the really heavy tasks. The NPU uses far less power than the CPU and GPU, so this should also improve the overall battery life.
Lenovo's AI-ready mobile workstations are a game-changer for user productivity across a wide range of industries. With their capability to turbocharge workflows, from data analysis to creative processes, these mobile workstations provide the accelerated power needed for even the most sophisticated workloads. Perfect for industries such as AEC, M&E, automotive, and healthcare, Lenovo's ThinkPad P series mobile workstations are transforming the way professionals work, providing efficiency and innovation in every task and are tailored to meet the emerging demands for AI model development and use cases.
The 2024 lineup
Let's start with the Entry level model, or should I say, the models suitable for light- to medium workloads. These models are perfect for CAD and AEC users. P14s and P16s shares the same components, so the real difference lies in the size of the desired panel.

Moving on to the medium- to heavy workloads, but still within a budget-friendly reach is the P16v. Just as powerful as the P1, but the choice of materials are different and so is the cost.
ThinkPad P16v Gen 2
Finally we get to the all new P1 Gen 7, which is the peak of the lineup, when considering portability, quality and performance. This has been redesign from the ground up. The P1 Gen 7 has a black chassis featuring CNC aluminum top cover, 91% screen-to-body ratio and a larger haptic touchpad. The CNC Aluminum is more recyclable and has better heat dissipation compared to plastic and carbon fiber.
ThinkPad P1 Gen 7
Honorable mention goes out to our P16 Gen 2, which is our absolute most powerful Mobile Workstation. This model have received a lifecycle extension with minor updates to the already superior design from last year. It still has the market highest memory capacity (192GB) by ANY mobile workstations out there. Here are some of the small updates to this platform.

In the next coming Workstation Wednesdays i will deep dive a bit further into each model for a more in-depth view. If you are interested in hearing more of the new lineup, I would recommend you to contact me or one of my excellent colleagues at Lenovo.

10 个月Hey, I see the new P16v gen 2 has been announced. I want to buy it, but have a question. Have you fixed the Nordic layout for that model? So that all the letter-keys are the same size - previously some keys between P/L and the ENTER key were narrower. This is not how it should be. On the US layout, all letters are the same size. Please find a way to make it right again on the Nordic layout as well, thank you.
