2024, it's a wrap!

Only a few more hours before we close the year, and looking back, we'd like at Sure to thank everyone who's shared our ambition this year. All together we have achieved in 2024 significant milestones (some captured below) in enhancing connectivity across our island communities, fostering economic growth and enabling businesses, families, and individuals to thrive in an increasingly connected world.

Not to forget all the necessary expertise and efforts, most of the time behind the scenes, to keep the lights on across all departments while monitoring our infrastructure and services 24x7.

These achievements are a testament to the dedication and hard work of all colleagues at Sure, coupled with the trust of our customers, the long-term collaboration with our partners, and the support of our shareholders at Beyon. Thank you to everyone.

Fibre Broadband Rollout in Guernsey, POP Move in Isle of Man

Our commitment to future-proofing connectivity is evident through our ongoing fibre broadband rollout in Guernsey. This ￡37.5 million investment, with ￡25 million from Sure and up to ￡12.5 million from the States of Guernsey, means that today 75% of island premises can access fibre connectivity, and more than 15,000 properties are connected, with all island properties still on track to have fibre access by the end of 2025.

In the Isle of Man, we have migrated some important infrastructure to a new site (Point of Presence), a technically challenging programme which got delivered through excellent teamwork across multiple teams to ensure careful circuits migration for our customers.

Global Operations and Services

We continue to provide critical network infrastructure and essential telecommunication services across our seven jurisdictions. And for our enterprise customers, we provide tier 3 datacentres, managed services and global connectivity for them to run businesses worldwide. Our operations in Falkland Islands, St. Helena, Ascension Island, and Diego Garcia ensure that even some of the most remote communities remain connected. In St. Helena, the team built for OneWeb an impressive ground station at Horse Point linked to the island’s subsea cable landing station at Rupert’s Beach.

Recognition for Resilience

Our dedication to resilience and excellence in the telecommunications industry was acknowledged when we were honored last month with the Veyaon Award for Resilience (in Guernésiais, the word ‘Véyaon’ means ‘go for it’). Literally every day and night, we and with our partners work hard to ensure that our communities stay connected, no matter the challenges. This award recognizes our unwavering engagement, innovation, and determination to run the best possible connectivity and backup solutions, ensuring that our customers receive reliable services.

Acquisition of Airtel-Vodafone

A pivotal achievement for Sure is the successful acquisition of Airtel-Vodafone. This strategic move enables us to invest up to ￡48 million in deploying next gen 5G mobile services. In effect, the programme had already started with planning and enabling works. This investment we’re making will lead to significant improvements to customers’ connectivity, speeds and coverage, as well as value for money through innovative products and services.?
