This spring, the Iowa Arts Council traveled around the state for our Regional Arts Forums. Now, our regional hosts are joining us in Des Moines for the Iowa Arts Summit, where we will continue the regional conversation in six different breakout sessions!

The Art of Belonging: Partnering with Artists to Create Meaningful Places?

Public art and creative placemaking can shape – even transform — our communities. Artists are strong partners as communities endeavor to create public spaces and experiences that create distinction, delight and a sense of belonging. Session attendees will gain insight on the value of art and culture planning, how and why to plan for collaboration, the role of artists in transforming public life and what art integration can look like.

Unlocking Arts Funding: Navigating Regional and National Grant Opportunities?

Dig into arts funding beyond Iowa’s borders and take advantage of opportunities in the broader arts funding ecosystem. Learn about Arts Midwest and the United States Regional Arts Organizations and how these unique arts service organizations can support your work.

The Role of the Arts and Culture in Combating the Epidemic of Loneliness?

Arts organizations have always been cultural and social hubs within our communities. As we deal with the lingering effects of the pandemic we are forced to face societal shifts, a decrease in community connectedness and social health. These trends of increasing disconnection within our communities, families, religious organizations, social clubs, etc., have been present for decades and have been accelerated by the pandemic. Learn more about the?concrete steps our organizations can take to rebuild America’s culture of connection.?
