Reflections on 2023

Let me start with saying that 2023 was insane, wasn't it?

It's like everyone I know had some sort of crazy change in life, and I saw more friends out of work than ever before. Just wild times all around.

For me, it was a huge year of change too. I left my job as Head of E-commerce for mediamarkt.se. After 14 years at the same company, that was a big deal for me. Kind of crazy when I think about it.

When I think back on all the work we did on mediamarkt.se, man, it blows my mind.

We took that site from almost nothing to one of the top spots online for home electronics in Sweden.

During my 7 years we managed to increase sales with as much as 783%!

A huge shoutout to everyone who was part of it! ????

Also my last "retro meeting shoutout" goes to all of my former team members, you will always have a very special place in my heart ??

2023, you were definitely one for the books.

Here's to whatever comes next! ??

Mission for 2024

Now 2024 I will continue to scale my personal brand, continue to master how to get the most out of generative AI and through my AI presentations and workshops continue to help companies with their AI journey ??

I'm almost too excited and have never thought I would get the respons I've gotten so far!

Midjourney 2024

I've been away from Midjourney for a month or two and recently decided to pick it up again just before they released their latest version, Midjourney V6 Alpa.

V6 makes generating fantastic images simple.

Here's what's new:

• Improved understanding to better interpret prompts. (It is goood)
• Added text capabilities (Finally!)
• Improved upscaling (it's amazing).

In this newsletter I will actually not focus on one of the new features but rather one that many seems to be missing - How to combine an existing image with a prompt.

And combined with Midjourney V6 this might be one of the most powerful functions for e-commerce.

What this means, is that you can take a product and fuse it with something from your imagination.

Here's a general example to make it easier to understand:

• Heres a cool stock image pattern I found on unsplash.com

• When we upload this image to Midjourney (through Discord), we will get a link. This link can be used within our upcoming prompt

?Now, let's fuse our pattern with a prompt!

?? The first thing I thought of when I saw the pattern was a cool looking brick wall in a sunny city close to a beach. So I used that in my prompt.

• Prompt: https://s.mj.run/3DuFccc4zPc A white fixie bike in front of a multi colored brick wall next to a sunny beach. Warn scene, bokeh style --ar 16:9 --v 6.0

This is how the prompt is built in detail.

1. The first part of my prompt is the URL we took from our pattern image.
2. General prompt that is describing the image we want to generate.
3. "--ar" in the end is what you write to change the aspect ratio of your image.
4. "--v"sets the version that you want to use for your generation.

Midjourney will automatically try to fuse your image with the prompt that you set. By writing "a multi colored brick wall" I nudge it to include my pattern in that part of the image.

? Heres the result (The bike is not perfect, but I just maxed out on this months usage in Midjourney so I had to go with first try ??):

• For e-commerce this is a game changer.
• You now have the possibilities to take your product and create hundreds of lifestyle images with your products injected into your images.

Another example where I borrowed an image of some cool looking glasses and injected them onto a female model.

This is the product image I used:
