2024 at eGov - The Year of Possibilities

Possibilities multiply when ecosystems unite. 2024 was a year where momentum turned into tangible change - one where trust, collaboration, and shared purpose came together to drive impact at scale.

This was also a year when the promise of Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) came to life. By leveraging open platforms, shared tools, and collective knowledge, we worked with governments, innovators, and communities to deliver public services that are faster, fairer, and more inclusive across multiple sectors like Urban, Water, Public Health and more.

What defined this year wasn’t just the milestones - it is the momentum we built together reminding us that every step forward is an opportunity to accelerate towards exponential impact. Here’s to continuing this energy - and multiplying possibilities - in 2025 and beyond.

Thank you,

Viraj Tyagi,

A Look Back at 2024

Urban governance advanced significantly this year, with Indian states leveraging DIGIT to deliver citizen-first services. DIGIT - eGov’s open-source platform was also leveraged by partners across sectors to drive private innovation on public rails, creating transformative solutions for public service delivery.

Urban

In 2024, Institutional long-term funding for National Urban Digital Mission (NUDM) made the promise of DPI to transform public service delivery become more real.??1450 crore was allocated to the National Urban Digital Mission (NUDM), making DIGIT the default platform for local governance in India, known as UPYOG.

Kerala became the first state in India onboarded onto NUDM, with DIGIT powering critical services across all 94 ULBs. 6 more states are now deploying it.

Water

In 2024, along with NIC, we introduced a platform for driving sustainability in rural drinking water schemes to support the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), a national initiative focused on providing safe tap water to every rural household. This platform, powered by DIGIT, streamlines billing, collections, and expense management. Assam became the first state to adopt it, under JJM.

Public Finance

Urban Livelihoods and prompt payments to daily wage earners took off with MUKTASoft in Odisha - a social benefits delivery solution, powered by DIGIT. This solution scaled across 25 Urban Local Bodies, reducing payment times by over 90%, from 35 days to just 3.5 days, driving economic inclusion and equity for all.

Ease of Doing Business

Goa launched OPEN,?built by Deloitte for Goa Industrial Development Corporation - a platform for Ease of Doing Business by supporting industries and businesses with transparent processes & simplifying governance.

Agriculture

The Krishi app, built on DIGIT, by Microsave Consulting, is a one-stop digital platform designed to empower farmers, by connecting them to government schemes and market prices. Today, over 200,000 farmers rely on this app.

Public Health

As part of an ecosystem, we reimagined?the resilience and self-reliance of Primary Health Centres (PHCs) and last-mile health delivery points with a platform approach designed to scale nationally to 25,000 PHCs. This platform manages Decentralized Renewable Energy (DRE) grids powered by solar energy by addressing critical operations and maintenance needs, ensuring essential healthcare equipment remains functional in remote areas. Launched as Saura-e-Mitra by the Government of Karnataka, the initiative is already operational across 1,000 PHCs.

Justice

PUCAR, a justice collective, developed DRISTI, a Digital Public Good (DPG) built on the DIGIT platform to make justice faster and more accessible. DRISTI streamlines dispute resolution, ensuring citizens can access justice efficiently and without unnecessary delays. This platform reflects a significant step toward modernizing justice delivery, bridging gaps in accessibility, with a more equitable legal system. It was launched as the 24x7 Online Court System in Kerala.

2024 was a significant year as Health Campaign Management (HCM), powered by DIGIT, expanded globally, supporting 9 public health campaigns across 4 countries and reaching over 14 million people.

Public Health

In Mozambique, HCM, locally known as SALAMA, powered bednet, SMC & IRS campaigns. This momentum extended to Liberia & Senegal for Malaria campaigns, and Nigeria, for neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) and strengthened local health infrastructure.

We enabled ecosystems for local capacity building, driving learning, knowledge sharing, and training across stakeholders—from policymakers and technologists to students—and empowering them to lead the future of digital transformation.

We launched The DPI Academy in collaboration with Artha Global, to train government officials in designing and implementing Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI).

Scaler School of Technology (SST) launched a 3-month DIGIT Course making Govtech accessible to the next generation of technologists and policymakers.

The Health Campaign Management (HCM) workshop, organised by?eGov Academy, brought together 38+ participants from Africa, including government officials, NGOs, to collaborate on scalable public health solutions. This workshop exemplified how partnerships can drive local capacity for public health transformation.

And, last but not the least, we launched our new website, designed to better showcase these initiatives, stories, and the impact of Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI). Our new website serves as a resource hub and accelerator for partners, innovators, and changemakers driving digital transformation in?public service delivery.
