2024 AgAmerica Summer Internship Program
AgAmerica just wrapped up another successful summer internship program, and it seems to get better every year! This year, we welcomed 11 bright young professionals to learn more about their chosen fields.??
Internship focuses included Applications/Data Solutions, Appraisal, Brand Strategy/Marketing, Equity, Investments, Accounting/Finance, Institutional Production, and Loan Closing Services. In honor of National Intern Day, we wanted to take a quick stroll down memory lane to recap our Intern Welcome Week this year and all the fun we had.?
Kicking off the program June 11th, our team of interns got an exclusive tour of Catapult—a Lakeland Economic Development Council initiative that was created to foster the growth of startups. During the kickoff, our interns introduced themselves, learned about AgAmerica, and received a glimpse of what their summer will entail. They toured Catapult, discovering how the organization supports the Lakeland community, and listened to some inspiring guest speakers, including AgAmerica’s Managing Director of Business Development Marti Hancock and Creative Director Martin Corbin.?
?
Marti emphasized the importance of embracing opportunities and having fun while launching a career, while Martin discussed the significance of building the AgAmerica brand. To conclude the day, Director of Talent Development Alexia presented an AgAmerica orientation, providing an overview of our company's values, mission, and commitment to agriculture.?
Wednesday, June 12th, was a fun one! The interns went to Bonnet Springs Park and received a tour including the Hollis Family Welcome Center, the AgAmerica Heritage Garden, the Crenshaw Canopy Walk, the butterfly gardens, and the Kiwanis Cares for Kids Treehouse.??
“It was super cool to see that AgAmerica not only focuses on helping farmers in its usual business, but also cares about and supports the Lakeland community through places such as Bonnet Springs.” - Jackson Culbreth, Applications and Data Solutions Intern?
Interns finished the day with an Ice Cream Social back at the AgAmerica headquarters with the rest of the AgAmericans. During the event, they completed a scavenger hunt, where they were able to learn fun facts about their new and seasoned coworkers.?
“My favorite part of Intern Week was meeting everyone. Not only the other interns but also everyone already associated with AgAmerica. They were all very kind and made me feel welcome.” - Reina Elkin, Institutional Production Intern?
On Thursday, June 13th, the last day of intern week, the interns visited Wish Farms in Plant City, Florida. Wish Farms, known for delivering berries to millions of families nationwide, operates with a whimsical, pixie-themed headquarters. Observing their operations provided valuable insights. Seeing a farm firsthand highlighted the type of business AgAmerica advocates for and supports, making it an enriching experience for all.
Throughout the summer, each intern brought their own skills and perspectives to their teams, and we couldn’t be prouder of their ability to lean in and work towards their professional goals. We wish them the best in their professional careers and look forward to seeing all they accomplish!?
