2023's top 10 hottest content marketing trends - Part 2

Hello world! A few days ago, I published the first part of this article. In the second part of this series, I will conclude the list of what I believe are the top 10 Content Marketing Trends for 2023. So here we go...

More and more content creators will use AI

Whether you're a digital marketer, content writer, or a budding video content creator, 2023 will see you use AI in one form or another. I'm a huge believer in using technology to further hone your craft, and I view AI as an effective tool to help you in this endeavour. Whether you use an AI video editor, a chatbot, a service like Jasper.ai to write content, I say more power to you. Some of us are worried that AI will take over the world and make one's job obsolete, I say AI is a mere tool, and you the content creator are the craftsman. A tool can never replace you. It's simply absurd, To those who're worried about AI, I say get into it head first. Embracing technology is what has gotten us from the stone age to the age of interstellar exploration.

The Democratisation of Design

I absolutely adore Canva. I use it all the time. Over the past several years I've gotten better at it. Design isn't the domain of graphic artists and designers any more. Thanks to Canva, AI image generators and other services, creating beautiful pieces of design, both static and video has never been simpler.

Empathy in advertising

The word 'empathy'? being highlighted in a dictionary

Having been in the copy game for 20 years I have seen a fair, few things. Where in the past, ads were nothing more than fluff pieces of communication, designed to sell more and more crap to consumers; they've now evolved to empathise with their audience. Take for instance Cadbury Bournvita's 2021 Children's Day campaign which voiced the concern of deindividuation and depression in children. Or Dove's expose of the light vs dark skin bias. The past few years have even seen Fail & Lovely abandon their trademarked spiel of fair skin trumps all. Advertising is evolving and as evidenced in the past few years, it is finally becoming more human. I see this trend becoming the norm (thankfully) over the next few years.

Recessionary trends and the wisdom of investing in content marketing

Henry Ford once said, "Stopping marketing to save money, is like trying to save time by turning off your watch". With a global recession looming large, advertising budgets are going to see a marked reduction. The smart dollar therefore ought to reside with content marketing. Creating assets in a cost effective manner and deploying them strategically, be it across SEO, Social Media and video sharing sites, is the way to go. Prioritising helpful, authoritative content to help bring genuine, interested clients to your brand, is 2023's smart thing to do.

Research and data orientation

A good writer is a better researcher, and that's simply a fact. So while AI and Machine Learning tools help writers work smarter, one must never lose focus on the research aspect of things. With several tools like Google Analytics, Keyword Research, SEMrush and others available, a young content marketer has no excuse for not using these and being on top of their game.

Those were my top 10 trends in content marketing for the year 2023. I aspire to post as frequently as possible and would love to hear your views as well, so please do leave a comment below. Until next time, have a good one.
