20230714 Focusing on retention
Hi and welcome to all the 631 of you joining us here ??
I started this newsletter randomly to summarise my thoughts from the week and wasn't expecting so many of you... so hi, great to see you here!
Let's start with this week's thoughts...
This week's recap
The process is there to serve you
People focus too much on the process. But the process is there to serve you. Whether it's Agile, Scrum, Lean, Kanban, a mix. Do what works for you. Too often I see companies romanticise a process or a way of working just because “it’s the way it should be done”. And I see 2 extremes: (1) Egalitarian Randomness and (2) Organised Standstill.
Focusing on retention
Improving your Retention is a great way to increase Acquistions. This is particularly important if you want to have a Product-Led motion for your company. The only way you'll ever have any chance of acquisition being product-led is if you get retention right.

Re-visit
The post from a few weeks ago on Product Principles just reached 10,000 impressions ??. That's where I'm sharing a full Product Principles doc which I've used with one of my teams. Having clearly defined guidelines changed the way we prioritised. And I hope this makes it slightly easier for you to learn how to build engaging products. You might want to go there and save it, because no one goes to school for product stuff.
Work with me ??
Whenever you're ready, here are 4 ways I can help you:
that's all for today.
