2023, you were a fantastic year.

As 2023 ends and we step into 2024, I want to take a moment to celebrate our achievements and acknowledge the hard work we've invested in them. Let's rewind and see what 2023 looked like and what lies ahead in 2024.

It has been a significant year for basement — a year marked by growth, introspection, learning, and exploration as we push the boundaries of our potential and embrace new challenges.

Our team kept growing (and we are stronger than ever).

basement comprises 34 technologists, artists, and visionaries situated in 10 cities across three countries and three time zones. In 2023, our family grew with the addition of nine new members.

Each of us is a specialist, shining in our unique way. We delight in sharing, enjoying fun moments, and coming together for celebrations. However, we also value introspection, learning from our experiences, and taking accountability for our missteps when things deviate from the plan. Our commitment is to act as a unified whole, always standing together.

We've generated a positive impact.

During 2023, we engaged in 50+ projects, welcomed 12 new clients, created seven brands, and shipped 25 websites for some of the best companies in the world.

Adding to our achievements, we proudly secured two Awwwards and one FWA. The crowning glory: a dream realized as we clinched a Webby Award for the website we built for MrBeast, the greatest creator of our era.

We kicked off basement ventures.

basement ventures is our early-stage venture studio that incubates and accelerates new business opportunities through our unique capabilities and market positioning.

Through ventures, we build our own products and invest in disruptive entrepreneurs at their earliest stages.

A few milestones:

• We incubated BaseHub, an innovative and high-speed headless Content Management System designed to transform the content management landscape for front-end developers and marketers. BaseHub is currently invite-only. You can sign up to the waitlist here.
• We joined Newtopia as LPs: Newtopia is a Latam Venture Capital backed by the most amazing entrepreneurs, angels, and talent from Latin America, including founders and early employees at some of the region's unicorns.

We took the basement lab to new heights.

basement lab serves as a dynamic think tank, bringing together our team to brainstorm, experiment, and propel innovation. Yet, its purpose extends beyond crafting groundbreaking experiments that seamlessly blend cutting-edge technologies with stunning designs. It's also the birthplace of new product and service concepts, where ideas take shape, evolve, and eventually transform into practical, game-changing solutions.

In 2023, we invested hundreds (if not thousands) of hours in experimentation and talent development through basement labs.

A few highlights:

• We run 64 experiments. You can check them out here.

• We launched basement chronicles, a retro point-and-click browser-native game, and Commarts has featured it.
• We developed BSMNT Scrollytelling, a library for creating Scrollytelling animations powered by GSAP ScrollTrigger, but abstracting away some things to make it work better with React. We had the chance to launch it publicly during the Awards Conference in Amsterdam this year. Check it out on GitHub.

We are building a solid reputation and solidifying our network.

We've been voted into SoDA, The Digital Society.

SoDA is an exclusive network home to some of the world's most renowned digital agencies—a vibrant community fostering connections among leaders, creative visionaries, and technology disruptors.

This represents a significant milestone for our team and a firm statement that South America, particularly Argentina ????, has world-class talent with the courage to move the world forward.

I joined the Entrepreneurs Organization.

For belonging, connection, growth opportunities, and learning, Entrepreneurs Organization is a community for entrepreneurs, by entrepreneurs - purpose-built to help individual leaders go farther than they ever thought possible.

We aspire to be recognized as one of the top web design & development studios in the world. Yes, we are reaching for ambitious heights. Remember, all our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them.

Nobody said it would be easy.

We know our aspirations are high. We know we are shooting for the moon with the intent to land among the stars. However, we believe it is possible as long as we stay true to our values. In 2023, we fortified our core values, illuminating a path forward that is now clearer than ever.

A few weeks back, we all got together in Mar del Plata, where Basement was born. For three days, we did fun activities, celebrated what we've accomplished and what we're creating, and took the chance to align and plan together on what's coming next year.

In 2023 I got married, became a father and basement is stronger than ever. 2024, you've got quite the challenge ahead to surpass this. Onward!
