JANUARY: TVHC is Awarded as H.A.R.D. Board of Director’s Organization of the Year for 2022
TVHC received this award for our community impact and outreach efforts to get community members COVID-19 tested/vaccinated, in collaboration with H.A.R.D. on the Community Resilience Coalition Initiative.
FEBRUARY: CEO Andrea Schwab-Galindo Highlights the Urgency for Outreach Efforts as the COVID Public Health Emergency Ends

MARCH: TVHC Welcomes Back Patients and Staff to the Newly Remodeled and Expanded Second Floor of the Hayward Clinic
To meet our communities’ rising population and need for accessible care, our Hayward clinic now offers a remodeled second floor hosting TVHC’s dental, pediatric, WIC, and optometry services in a beautifully renovated and expanded space. Our patients deserve the best! A special thank you to our donors and community partners who helped make this remodel successful!
APRIL: CEO Andrea Schwab-Galindo Celebrates with TVHC’s Values Champions
To show appreciation for the TVHC staff who went above and beyond in 2022, CEO Andrea Schwab-Galindo hosted a luncheon for the TVHC Values Champions.
“This wonderful group of individuals was nominated by both their peers and the Executive Team for exemplifying TVHC’s core and aspirational values,” said Andrea. “It is my honor to celebrate them for consistently going above and beyond to create a people-centered and caring environment for all in 2022.”
MAY: TVHC Food Distribution at Ashland Clinic Provides Meals to Over 400 Families
As rising food costs and inflation pose challenges for patients and community members, TVHC increased its number of food boxes to distribute at the Ashland clinic. The Ashland clinic serves the unincorporated areas of Ashland, Cherryland, San Lorenzo, and San Leandro. In 2023, we provided 30,358 patients and community members with meals!
JUNE: TVHC Honored with Outstanding Community Partner Award from California Association and Recreation Park Districts
TVHC received this award from the state as a recognition of our collaboration and innovative partnership with Hayward Area Recreation and Park District (H.A.R.D.), which successfully brought essential health and wellness services directly to our community.
JULY: TVHC Expands Optometry Services at Hayward Clinic
With transportation barriers affecting the accessibility of optometry services for many patients, expanding optometry services to the Hayward clinic has helped TVHC meet the needs of its patients. Optometry care covers vision screenings and eye exams, which can help identify health issues, including diabetes and high blood pressure.
AUGUST: TVHC’s Summer Fiesta Kicks Off National Health Center Week

TVHC staff gathered for its annual employee celebration filled with dancing, good food, and prizes. The Summer Fiesta is also when CEO Andrea Schwab-Galindo and the TVHC Board of Directors recognize staff celebrating milestone anniversaries, and announce the winners of the TVHC Scholarship Program.
During this month, our staff also completed our annual staff engagement survey conducted by a third party. This year, we increased our staff satisfaction in most areas – including scoring four points above the national average of health centers across the country in staff engagement.
SEPTEMBER: TVHC’s Care Transformation Pilots Go Live
TVHC launches a new care team model that places a strong emphasis on enhancing access, quality of care, and both patient and staff satisfaction, which are all essential to TVHC’s 2023-24 Clarity Plan goal of Increasing Our Communities’ Access to Care. We are proud to be innovative and lead the way in piloting models that benefit our patients and staff.
Street Health Department Celebrates Three-Year Extension of Alameda County Grant
TVHC’s Street Health Team, which began in 2019, will continue to grow its services for unhoused community members with the extension of this grant. The team provides housing navigation resources and performs medical services from mobile clinics. This expansion is a recognition of the impact and great work of the street team.
OCTOBER: TVHC’s Castro Valley Health Center Grand Opening
The new health center, located in Castro Valley High School, offers services to students and community members, including primary care, dental screenings, immunizations, health education, family planning, and more. As TVHC’s 5th school-based clinic, the Castro Valley Health Center is the first one that is also accessible to non-students, allowing us to serve a broader pediatric population during after-school hours.
Celebrating 20 Years of TVHC’s Promotoras Program
The Promotoras Program has been a pillar in the community since 2002, creating community health advocates and leaders who bring health education and resources back to their families and neighbors. Special thank you to Assemblymember Liz Ortega, Supervisor Elisa Marquez, Hayward Mayor Mark Salinas, and San Leandro Mayor Juan Gonzalez for helping us celebrate this milestone anniversary with our Promotoras.
NOVEMBER: TVHC Celebrates Tiburcio Gives Thanks Week
TVHC expressed gratitude with its annual Tiburcio Gives Thanks Week, featuring catered lunches hosted by the Executive Team and gift card raffles. The festivities included daily themes highlighting TVHC values, and Notes of Appreciation, where staff write small cards and give thanks to fellow team members.
DECEMBER: Family Support Services Program Hosts Annual Adopt-A-Family
TVHC staff participate in the Family Support Services annual Adopt-A-Family event. This year, 74 families had their holiday wish lists fulfilled by staff in the giving spirit of the holiday season.
