As 2023 draws to a close, we round-up and reflect on the key highlights at IQ Glass.? As the saying goes “It’s only when you look back, you see just how far you’ve come!”?
LAUNCH OF AVINO
After many years in development, this year we launched our dedicated timber division, focusing on bringing high specification timber products to the architectural and specification community.?
The new brand within the IQ Glass Group builds on IQ's historical work with timber and joinery, providing a systemised and structured approach to these bespoke areas of builds. A full offering of timber windows and doors, cladding, shading and associated timber provides a complete package for builds. The showroom is in the final stages of completion and we look forward to inviting you all to the official showroom opening 15th February 2024.?
PROJECTS OF THE YEAR VOTED BY IQ
Each year, the IQ team casts their votes for the finest project completed to win our coveted ‘Project of the Year Award'.
This year's joint winners 'Project of the Year Award 2023' are Shards and Plas Glyn y Weddw Gallery!?
Shards?is a new Paragraph 80 eco build in Haywards Heath. The luxury home by Morgan Carn Architects is located on a former quarry site. The design evolved from the shapes and angles featured within the original plot, using stone, bricks and glass. The key feature was a frameless structural glass window bay that protruded from the first floor.?
Plas Glyn y Weddw Gallery?is a modern cafe extension to Wales' oldest art gallery. Mark Wray designed the extension in collaboration with sculptor Matthew Sanderson. IQ provided all the specialist glazing hidden behind the metallic shell.?
PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT
With our drive to stay at the forefront of architectural glazing innovation, we are constantly adding new products and technologies to the architectural market. We focus on providing architects with the latest glass technology that offers minimal detailing, large glass sizes and the best performance.?
Keller NGS
In April we announced the launch of the latest advance in slim framed glass door design in the form of the NextGeneration Slider from Keller. The new sliding system pushes the boundaries like never before, pairing impressive glass sizes with high performance design.?
In 2024 we will be opening our NGS show space, offering a purpose built environment within our showroom to explore the brand new system.?
Hidden Handle?
One of the key and popular features of the NGS system is the Hidden Handle design. This unique handle design allows you to create a full wall to wall glass finish with no visible handles or frames. Pairing this handle with the View floor option provides you with an opening with 99.3% glazing.?
AWARDS 2023
This year, we are immensely proud to have featured in so many fantastic residential and commercial projects achieving the highest accolades within the field of architectural design and construction.
Whether the projects won or were just shortlisted, it is a testament to the collaborative project teams involved in these designs. Just some of these impressive projects are listed below.?
The renovation and extension of Black House Farm by Robin Lee Architecture was shortlisted for the Manser Medal this year. The historical Hampshire farm complex is compromised of a Grade II listed 17th century farmhouse and adjacent early/mid century barns. The renovation and extension included various glass installations by IQ including slim framed sliding doors and frameless windows.?
Lea Bridge Library by Studio Weave was a constant presence throughout the awards shortlists this year. The project won the Editor's Choice Award and Civic Project Award in the AJ Architecture Awards. The timber and glass library extension features a structural glass wall with integrated slim sliders from IQ.?

Orchard House was shortlisted for the British Home Awards this year. The impressive private home is located on a prestigious estate in Radlett. Designed by Strom Architects, the modern design features large elevations of architectural glazing to the rear with strategic windows behind privacy battens to the front.?
The Old Rectory was also shortlisted for the British Home Awards within the Home Transformations category. With its arched and pill shaped structural glass windows, the extension and renovation by Gruff Architects turned the 1980's dilapidated nursing home into an energy efficient family home.?

ONE TEAM FOR CHARITIES OF CHOICE
This year we raised over ￡12k for The Alzheimer's Society in our annual charity golf day. Held at The Buckinghamshire, we assembled 8 teams to fight it out for the top prize. We thank all our sponsors for helping us raise such a fantastic amount for a well deserving charity.?

IQ has some exciting things in the pipeline for 2024 including new product launches, events and the 10 year anniversary of Sky House on 15th February!?

We also have a unique opportunity to join the design community at Sky House Design Centre. We are in the final steps of renovating the first floor of the building and are letting the space out to any companies looking for a cost effective office or showroom space with close links to London.?
