2023 Year in Review

As 2023 comes to a close, it offers a unique opportunity to reflect on a year that was as rich and complex for MICT Ltd as it was for the world at large. In my role as Business Manager, I've witnessed our company reach new heights, navigated through a world of significant changes, and experienced personal growth amidst a global backdrop of both progress and challenges.

This year marked a significant leap for us, as we delved deeper into the third sector, amplifying our impact on social initiatives. We've committed ourselves to sustainable IT practices, aligning our work with the pressing need for environmental consciousness in the technology sector.

Our focus wasn't just internal. We've broadened our horizons, extending our expertise to many small fledgling charities, helping them maximize grants from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. This endeavour wasn't just about business, it was about making a real difference in the community.

June brought with it the excitement of launching our new website (www.mictgold.com), a digital embodiment of our evolving brand and values. It's not just a website, it's a portal that connects us with our clients and the broader community.

Networking has been a key theme for me personally. I’ve embarked on new networking adventures, joining a team of professionals to form a new BNI chapter. This step isn't just about business development, it's about building lasting relationships and fostering a community of like-minded professionals.

In my expanded role as Business Manager, I've delved into business development, exploring new avenues and strategies to elevate our brand presence. It's been a journey of learning, growth, and immense satisfaction.

This year also marked a deeper collaboration with the Liverpool Chamber and the Federation of Small Businesses. Working closely with these organisations has enabled us to connect more profoundly with the local business community, supporting and learning from the vibrant network of small enterprises in Liverpool.

We've also made significant strides in our service offerings. Launching our proprietary hosted VoIP solution, guiding companies through the migration to Microsoft 365, and assisting them in attaining Cyber Essentials certification - these milestones underscore our commitment to providing cutting-edge IT solutions.

However, the year wasn't without its challenges, especially in the realm of cybersecurity. But these challenges only fuelled our resolve to innovate and bolster our defences, ensuring our clients' digital security is uncompromised.

A proud moment for us was sponsoring the Liverpool Chamber of Commerce Innovation Award, specifically the 'Customer Experience' category. This sponsorship not only reflected our commitment to quality and innovation but also our dedication to uplifting the community.

On a personal note, I've had quite the adventurous year. I jet-setted to France, Italy, and Spain, embracing 'la dolce vita' and occasionally saying "oui" when I meant "sí". And when in France, I did occasionally wonder if I should discuss Davos, AI, or Liverpool’s resurgence over a croissant.

I also attended a Women in Leadership course, because, let's face it, someone's got to lead, and it might as well be us fabulous ladies!

2023 was a year marked by significant global developments. India surpassed China as the most populous country, a monumental demographic shift with far-reaching implications. This event, along with the record-breaking global temperatures, highlighted the rapid changes our world is undergoing.

The year was also marked by serious challenges. The ongoing war in Ukraine, the devastating earthquakes, and volcano eruptions, as well as the Israel-Gaza war, served as stark reminders of the world's vulnerability and the need for concerted efforts towards peace and sustainability.

Amidst the serious global backdrop, there were moments of celebration and joy. The Eurovision Song Contest in Liverpool was an absolute delight, showcasing our city's vibrant culture and spirit of unity. It turned the city into a giant karaoke stage, where every day felt like a musical – only with less choreography and more enthusiasm. It was as if the entire city turned into a giant glitter ball!

In the office, we maintained a balance of hard work with lighter moments. We ran several competitions, giving away Samsung tablets and restaurant vouchers, adding a bit of fun and excitement to our work environment.

The world in 2023 faced its share of trials and triumphs. The continuation of the global recession, the intensifying space race, the King's coronation (long live Charles!), Women's World Cup and that forced Spanish kiss (talk about awkward!), and the remarkable Eurovision Song Contest hosted here in Liverpool were just a few of the events that shaped the year, 2023 had it all! We at MICT Ltd navigated these global waves while making our own splash in the IT world.

As we step into 2024, I do so with a sense of pride for what we've achieved at MICT Ltd and a recognition of the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. We're ready to continue our journey of innovation, social responsibility, and making a positive impact both locally and globally.
