Was 2023 the 'Year of FemTech'?

At the beginning of the year, I collaborated with 5 of the most innovative companies in the Women's+ Health space to discuss where the market was predicted to head this year, and to offer an insight into the background and motivations of each entity??: Proov , Grace Health (acquired), Clue , balance Menopause and Flo Health Inc. .

Since then we have witnessed acquisitions, huge funding rounds and the launches of some incredible medical devices globally. While I won't be able to list each success, here's a few to round the year off...??

• Delphinus Medical Technologies, Inc. secured an additional $12M in funding, after their $30M Series D funding round in 2022??, and welcomed Scott A. White as their newly appointed CEO.
• The Biotechnology and Bioscience sector ??of FemTech is seeing an increase in growth, with Freya Biosciences $38M Series A funding, and Evofem Biosciences ' recent acquisition by aditXt (Nasdaq: ADTX) .??
• Aspivix received both FDA clearance and CE marking for its flagship cervical product, Carevix??.
• Amboy Street Ventures , Goddess Gaia Ventures , BrainTrust Founders Studio , Portfolia and Recharge Capital pledged to help countless Women's+ Health brands worldwide.??
• Metric have created the first, and only, Women's+ Health and FemTech focused recruitment team??, with myself ( Lauren Pope and Caitlin James ), led by John-Joe Walker , partnering with FemTech firms worldwide.
• We've seen an increased awareness of female mental health??, with Caraway , Clementine , Miri AI , Mavida Health and Gennev .
• Jodi Neuhauser successfully launched and grew her In Women's Health platform to help FemTech recruits and supporters ???worldwide.
• ??Virtual clinics saw continued growth with Visana Health securing $10.1M in seed funding, Maven Clinic acquiring Naytal , Midi Health securing $25M Series A investment and HerMD raising $18M in Series A round also??.
• AI innovations?have contributed to Women's+ Health with Sonio 's AI prenatal ultrasound solution, MIM Fertility 's IVF solution, Lunit Cancer Screening and Volpara Health 's breast solution and Vara 's breast cancer platform, spotlighted by AI recruiters Billy Williams and James Barraclough .
• A growth in maternal health contributions?? and dedications to lowering maternal mortality rates worldwide?? with Lōvu Health , Partum Health , Diana Health (We're Hiring!) and Postpartum Plan .

While there remains a lot of progress to be made, and gaps to be filled, it's important to look back on 2023's successes and celebrate the wins of the year??.

Racial disparities, growing maternal mortality rates and accessible education remain key, significant gaps in the market right now, and need to be closed. Hopefully we see continued support of the Women's+ Health space and funding to accelerate this research and investment.????
