2023: A Year of Compassionate Growth
As the new year begins, many of us are setting resolutions for ourselves with the hope of improving our lives in some way. Whether it's to eat healthier, exercise more, or learn a new skill, we are all looking for ways to better ourselves and our circumstances.
It's important to remember that resolutions are meant to be goals to work towards, not strict rules that we must follow perfectly. It's okay if we don't stick to our resolutions perfectly or if we make mistakes along the way. The important thing is to keep trying and to be kind to ourselves when we falter.
Beating ourselves up for not following through on our resolutions can actually be counterproductive. It can lead to feelings of failure and discouragement, which can make us less likely to continue working towards our goals. This is especially true if we are already feeling overwhelmed or stressed.
It can be helpful to set realistic goals for ourselves and to break them down into smaller, more manageable steps. This can make the process of achieving our resolutions feel more achievable and less daunting. It can also be helpful to have a support system in place, whether it's a friend, family member, or a therapist, to help us stay motivated and on track.
As we begin the new year, let's be kind to ourselves and remember that self-improvement is a journey, not a destination. It's okay to make mistakes and to take things one step at a time. With patience and persistence, we can achieve our goals and be proud of the progress we make.
Now tell us: what is your resolution for 2023?
