A new year means new trends. And new trends mean a new social media strategy. Social media is always changing, and usually for the better. (Although, sometimes when this change happens, it doesn’t necessarily feel like it’s for the better right away.) While this is a good thing, it also means that you’ve got to keep up and adapt accordingly.
There are a few trends that have already been going strong and that we are going to see more of in 2023. Take a look at the list below. Some might already sound familiar…
- People appreciate the real you:?
- 2023 is going to continue with more of a focus on user generated content. Audiences love to see the true, authentic versions of people they follow or are buying from. This is one of the biggest reasons why people buy. If they can relate, and trust, they will purchase.?
- Short form video:?
- Reels are still everywhere and are dominating our feeds these days. And as we just talked about, one great way to show off your true self and authenticity is through stories and reels. With video, you can show more of the nitty-gritty of your day. This is where you can show up as the most authentic version of yourself, your product, or your brand. And that's what audiences appreciate about stories. So keep it real in order to be more relatable. The power of video is huge! So if you haven’t started doing reels or YouTube Shorts yet, start now!?
- Augmented reality will continue to grow:?
- AR is interactive, creative, and enhances your audience’s experience. It’s still relatively new, but it’s been shown to convert. So brushing up on your AR skills is a must this year.?
- Engagement:?
- Engaging and interacting with your audience will remain just as important if not more important this year. People love to feel a connection to those they are purchasing from. No one likes talking to crickets. If someone leaves a comment on your post, answer them! And it is called social media for a reason. Try to spending time engaging with your audience and your ideal customers on a regular basis.
- Scheduling:?
- Most platforms are starting to allow you to schedule posts ahead of time natively so really there is no excuse for not getting that post out. Being able to schedule your posts in advance makes it more convenient for you as a business owner, and allows you to focus more on what really matters, which is planning out your social media calendar for 2023! If you need help with scheduling, I have a couple of posts specific to Facebook and Instagram that should help get you started.
- AI
- Artificial intelligence is starting to make itself more mainstream. From using the magic writing tool in Canva, to ChatGDP, to Jasper.ai, there are numerous tools out there to help you with your copywriting. Is this the end of the writer? It’s definitely something to keep an eye on, however, Google has already implemented reach restrictions for copy that has been used using AI. It will be a trend to keep an eye on for sure.?
Another trend that I think we are going to see more and more of is people continuing to outsource their social media. Let’s face it, keeping up on social media as a business can be a TON of work! And not all of us have the time to do it. If you’re pondering hiring someone, this could be the year to test it out! Because as I said, social media is CONSTANTLY changing, and it’s a lot of work keeping up. But it’s also imperative that you are using it correctly and to its fullest potential if you want it to work in your favor.?
