2023 - Successful on Purpose

2023 - Successful on Purpose

Today is the last day of 2023. I had a lot of new experiences and things happen to me this year, and I wanted to share with you my wins, my setbacks, and my plans for 2024.

Let’s dive in.

Big Wins

1. Finding my dot

At the end of 2022 I was a little confused. I’ve lost my job and I have tried many things but didn’t have a clear path for scaling any of them. I took some time to reflect and ended up joining a business coaching program.

The result: I find that area that I can really add value to people, and developed a clear strategy on how to coach my colleagues in pharmaceutical field to grow, develop and accelerate their promotions.

?

2. Launching my coaching program

I started posting my ideas and thoughts on LinkedIn. The people's engagement, emotional support, and interactions were what really inspired me to start a coaching program. Additionally, I was able to help tens of people in the pharmaceutical industry take control of their career path, accelerate their promotion and land on their dream jobs.

?

3. Joining a great company

I couldn't see myself pursuing my career at a different organisation after spending 15 years with the same company. However, in April 2023, I was lucky to join Gilead Sciences, a great company with a culture of trust, dedication, and a genuine commitment to patients.

?And in 2023, We were able to complete great achievements as a team, grow personally and professionally, and save hundreds of patients lives.

4. Hosting events

I was feeling quite lonely at the end of 2022. So I decided in 2023 to reach out to people and have more chances of communicating and connecting.

I had the opportunity for hosting and co-hosting couple of events, it was an interesting experience, I fostered my network and I met amazing people and made friends from around the Middle East. One of them is the stunning May Sayed Ali !

?

5. Starting my 1% career club

I was never a writer or a journalist, but I always wanted to be the kind of person who put together his thoughts and ideas clearly, and present it in an attractive way.

This year I got a viewpoint of sharing my personal development ideas in a bimonthly newsletter, I worked with a designer to create the logo and the brand up and running, and I selected the brand name of 1% career club, and invited colleagues to join.

?It wasn’t one of those crazy concepts who’ll transform me to a journalist, but people valued the content and it gave me a boost sharing my ideas in confidence and comfort.

?

6. Traveled to new horizons.

You know what is even better than seeing cities’ attraction in pictures and dreaming of visiting it? Taking the decision, travelling and getting there to catch them live.

?The real win here is that I visited 5 new cities I was dreaming of visiting before. The ability to take the decision, travel and enjoy the beautiful scenes of a particular place or a new city is the best feeling in the world :)

Some Setbacks

I’ve had great wins, but I have also messed up this year. 3 things that didn't go to plan:

?

1. Not starting my Instagram

I wanted to extend my reach into new people and new platforms, and I aspired to share business reels on IG. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the time and the brain to start this project despite the idea acceptance from friends and colleagues.

?

2. Not starting a podcast

I've been dreaming about it for years. I love listening to podcasts because it feels like you are getting to know the host. Like you are building a relationship, and that’s what I want to have with this community.

I made plans of hosting successful leaders in the pharmaceutical field, people who are inspiring to others, who can share their stories and can help others to grow.

I contacted couple of leaders, evaluated vendors, but didn't have the bandwidth to give it an honest effort.

?

3. The launch of an online course

My first program course didn’t see the light yet, didn’t launch!

8 weeks of hard work, and I created what I believe to be a great course, and almost nothing to show, the reasons behind the no show is that it needs lots of marketing, publicity and communication efforts. That was a set back, but I didn’t let it stop me, and this is one of my 2024 goals.

?

I could feel bad looking at these missed goals, but I don't.

Instead I look at them as lessons learned. I use them as motivation to do better, not as an excuse to throw myself a pity party.

What’s Next?

?I’ve been spending a lot of time imagining my ideal 2024.

?I have some new priorities like spending more time with family and friends, traveling and finding a hobby.

?

My aspirations are high-level: I have ambitious goals to expand my business in Gilead. Also I want to start my podcast, Instagram account and launching my course, helping more individuals grow and succeed in their careers. And I want to do it in a timely way that makes me happy and fulfilled :)

?

This is my vision for 2024.

I hope you’ll take the time to work on yours and then put it to action.

?

Wishing you a healthy and prosperous new year!

Am glad how you zoom in and out in your reflections. Yet you are not alone in the Instagram issue. We share the same regret (Time constraints and zillions of priorities). Regarding the hobby, you are almost welcome to join me in the tennis court, amazing hobby and no age limit for it. wish you greatness in 2024 and many years to come.
