2023 Q4 Round Up

2023 Q4 Round Up

In November, the 2022 class rotated to their third and final teams. The excitement on program was palpable. Breanna Ivey writes, “I'm a little over two months into my third and final rotation and I have learned so much already. As a Systems Engineer on the MR Systems Team, I am working to design and execute system level test plans for our gradient and receive chain subsystems. So far, this role has helped me gain a better understanding of how the many subsystems come together and has grown my knowledge of the system overall. I'm excited to continue learning about MR and how we test and assess performance at the system level!”.

Another member of the 2022 Class, Nomita Chandra writes, “In my most recent rotation, I've had the pleasure of joining the Edison AI team. From the very start, the team extended a warm welcome, and throughout the initial weeks, their genuine willingness to assist and guide me through the intricacies of new subjects made the learning curve feel seamless. My primary focus within the team has been on refining a captivating project that involves enhancing features like Pairwise Similarity, Cluster Generation, Duplication Analysis, Outlier Detection, and Reference Similarity. My goal is to elevate the functionality of the project in those specific features. The valuable resources provided by my team allowed me to learn a lot in areas such as image classification and segmentation. I am excited to continue working on this team and making an impact on multiple projects.

Last month, as a member of the EEDP volunteering committee, Nithya Nalluri organized an event at the Hindu Temple of Wisconsin. Leading a brief tour of the temple, Nithya shared insights into Hindu Gods and traditions, followed by a discussion on the fundamentals of Hinduism with a member of the temple's education committee. Afterwards in the temple's cafeteria, the volunteers packed and served food, connecting with volunteers and met other fellow GE HealthCare employees. This event provided cultural insights and the joy of contributing to diverse communities.

In November, the Edisons hosted an annual “Friendsgiving” dinner in Milwaukee. This was a great opportunity for the ‘22 & ‘23 classes to come together to share a meal and conversation. Big thanks to all who come, and a special shoutout to Charles Gorton for hosting!

Edisons at Friendsgiving Celebrations

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, the Volunteer committee organized a successful food drive which saw $2158 in online donations, almost double last year’s total! Additionally, the collection of canned goods led to many large boxes being filled at every GE HealthCare site. Thank you to all who donated, and keep an eye out for more volunteering events in the near future.

The Edisons wrapped up 2023 with a seasonal holiday party featuring friends, desserts, and a "white elephant" gift exchange. Many gifts were passed around according to the exchange rules, but none more so than the Squishmallow stuffed animals (unboxing pictured below).

Regardless of which presents they ended up with, everyone appreciated the chance to escape the cold winter air to catch up with friends and reflect on the year. Keep an eye out for more to come from GE HealthCare and the EEDPs in 2024!

Great to see the Edisons pushing boundaries in Q4! ?? Thomas Edison once said, "There's a way to do it better - find it." Your innovative spirit truly embodies this. By the way, you might be interested in an exciting tree planting initiative that resonates with the ethos of innovation and environmental stewardship. ??
