1-) UCL Career Day for Early Career Researchers - 17th November 2023

Are you an early career researcher (ECR) in health and medical sciences looking to explore your next career opportunity?

The ECR EDI Focus Group at the GOS Institute of Child Health is organising a Career Day on 17 November from 13:00-17:00 to help you navigate different career routes.

They are hosting 3 panels to discuss the academic route, non-academic route, and transition within non-research/teaching roles in academia. Speakers include recent fellowship recipients, healthcare industry workers, and individuals from a range of non-academic careers.

3-) Imperial Enterprise Lab Venture Catalyst Challenge - Deadline 26th November 2023

3 months, 5 tracks and £100,000 up for grabs! The VCC is Imperial College’s flagship entrepreneurial competition for Imperial students, alumni and early career researchers, to develop an innovative idea for commercialisation and win big!

Starting January 2024, VCC will take 25 teams through a 3-month programme of 1-to-1 coaching, meetings with experts, evening workshops and pitch training, all with one aim – to help you bring your idea to commercial reality while growing your knowledge, skills, and network. It’s a unique opportunity not to be missed!

4-) Imperial Enterprise Lab WE Innovate - Deadline 26th November 2023

WE Innovate aims to inspire, empower and increase the number of women-led start ups!?

It is a 6-month programme running from January to May. The programme supports the development of up to 25 teams through masterclasses, business coaching, 1-to-1 expert support, peer mentoring and much more. There are 3 phases during which 25 teams become a final 5 who then compete for a chance to win a share of the £30,000 prize fund.

5-) BBSRC Innovation to Commercialisation of University Research (ICURe) - Deadline 15th January 2024

BBSRC ICURe Explore trains, funds, and supports research teams to determine whether there is a market for products or services that utilise their bioscience-based ideas, research, science, and technologies.

Funding is available to ‘get out of the lab’ and validate commercially promising ideas in the marketplace. The training and support activities are carried out in a blended format, providing accessibility to a wide range of applicants. Apply to receive up to £35,000 funding

6-) BioIndustry Association (BIA) Pulse at The Francis Crick Institute - Deadline 21st January 2024

PULSE is a free three-day leadership and entrepreneurship training programme for up and coming life sciences entrepreneurs. Developed by the BioIndustry Association (BIA) and the Francis Crick Institute, the programme is aimed at aspiring entrepreneurs and first-time CEOs looking for advanced practical advice, support and feedback from established CEOs, leading entrepreneurs and?renowned professionals.

The programme comprises a mix of sessions, talks, and interactive exercises, interspersed with networking opportunities to equip you with the necessary information and inspiration to become leading CEOs and entrepreneurs. It will give you a chance to practise relevant skills and share ideas in a safe space, with expert feedback and advice. It will also give you an invaluable opportunity to build links and networks across the sector, from industry experts to your CEO peers, and form an ongoing relationship with the Francis Crick Institute and the BIA.

7-) Broadening Horizons Mentoring Programme - Launch on 23rd January 2024

The aim of Broadening Horizons is to support early career researchers with their professional development and raise awareness of the skills and mindset needed to translate discoveries into practical application for societal benefit. It does this by connecting mentees with mentors from industry, policy and the third sector. The programme gives mentees exposure to opportunities in translating research and provides tools, knowledge and guidance.??
