The 2023 P4G Summit is coming to Bogotá
Back in 2018, Denmark was among a group of countries and international organisations eyeing market-based partnerships as a key lever to build resilient economies and nourish early-stage businesses. In close tie-up, the partners committed to setting up national platforms ensuring the involvement of relevant businesses, authorities, civil society, and knowledge institutions under the Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030 (P4G).
Now, five years later, the third P4G Summit is taking place in Bogotá. Building on experiences of the 2018 Copenhagen Summit and the 2021 Seoul Summit, this year’s edition from 22-23 September unites heads of state, decision-makers, youth delegates, and innovators from across the world to shape policies, mobilise climate financing and facilitate local pathways towards net-zero.
Embodying the partnership approach, Danish companies have supported local partners, project owners, and governments to decarbonise cement production in Vietnam, create efficient industrial cooling systems in Indonesia, and improve the livelihoods of farmers in Ethiopia. Another case is the company Slow, collaborating with local coffee farmers in Laos and Vietnam to support reforestation efforts by planting various tree species in the local ecosystem. Recently validated by the Science Based Targets, the company’s approach allows coffee cultivation to thrive within a canopy of trees, binding carbon in the soil and increasing biodiversity.
To this, the upcoming gathering in Bogotá will focus on action plans in relation to climate-smart agriculture, food loss and waste, zero-emissions mobility, and renewable energy. Taking the baton forward, the summit seeks to forge public-private climate action, thus removing barriers, elevating the adaptation of tangible solutions, and presenting? replicable business models.
