2023 will have several top sports events, some of which could be a breaking point for the growth and near future of their sport due to the success of recent events and because it is anticipated in the strategic plans of their sport governing bodies. Here are the main sports events of the year and why they are so relevant.
2023 FIFA Women's World Cup
The 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup will be jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand and is scheduled to take place from 20 July to 20 August 2023; it will be the first FIFA Women's World Cup to have more than one host nation and also be the first senior World Cup of either gender to be held across multiple confederations.
In addition, this tournament will be the first to feature the expanded format of 32 teams, from the previous 24, a clear example of the growth of women′s football. Due to historical attendance in continental and local competitions, 2022 was one of the most important years, if not the most relevant, in the history of women′s football, and the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup could be a breaking point in women′s football history.
2023 Rugby World Cup
The 2023 Rugby World Cup is scheduled to be the tenth men's Rugby World Cup. It is scheduled to take place in France from 8 September to 28 October 2023. The 2023 Rugby World Cup will run for an additional week, which makes it seven weeks in total. This gives players enough rest between games, which was a problem in previous tournaments.
Japan 2019 was the most economically successful Rugby World Cup ever, with nearly £4.3 billion generated in economic output. It was the first time the tournament was played in Asia, and it achieved a ticket sell-out rate of 99%, the highest ever in Rugby World Cup history, a total of 1.72 million tickets were sold. France 2023 is expected to be a successful competition, inside and outside the pitch.

2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup
The 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup will be the 19th tournament edition and will be the second to feature 32 teams. For the first time in its history, the World Cup will be hosted by multiple nations in Asia, the Philippines, Japan, and Indonesia, from 25 August to 10 September 2023.
Basketball is earth's third most popular sport, with roughly 2.2 billion fans. The FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 achieved record-breaking results with a TV audience reach of over 3 billion and generated a further 1.5 billion video views on social media. FIBA teamed up with over 70 broadcast partners to deliver coverage in 190 territories, resulting in a total cumulative average TV audience increase of over 80% compared to the last World Cup in 2014
Cricket world cup 2023
The ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, to be hosted by India, will be the 13th edition of the 50-over World Cup. This will be the fourth time that India will be hosting the tournament and the first time that it will be the sole host. They previously co-hosted the tournament in 1987, 1996 and 2011.
Cricket has been ranked as the second most popular sport in the world, with a fanbase that exceeds 2.5 billion people. The ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2019 was the most watched ICC event ever, with a global cumulative average audience of 1.6 billion for live coverage, a 38% increase over the 2015 edition and a unique broadcast audience of 706 million viewers. The ICC expects to keep growing its fan base and increase its popularity around the world.
2023 World Baseball Classic??????
The 2023 World Baseball Classic will be the fifth tournament edition. WBC 2023 will open with pool play on March 8 in Taiwan, and it will end with the championship game on March 21 in Miami. The WBC 2023 field is expanding to 20 teams -- the 16 teams from the 2017 tournament plus four teams that advance from the Qualifiers.
Overall viewership for the 2017 WBC was up +32% over the last one held in 2013 for the league-owned network. The WBC drew an attendance record of 1,086,720, marking the first time the event has surpassed 1 million.?The WBC in 2017 saw an attendance +23% increase over the 2013 event.
