2023 International Women's Day
Today we celebrate International Women's Day, which is a great opportunity to recognise the incredible accomplishments and contributions of women in all parts of our community. This year's theme is Embracing Equity, and is a chance to celebrate women around the world that are leading the way as they smash through the glass ceiling.
Educonomy would like to acknowledge the women who have made a difference in education. One of the most inspiring women in the history of education is the late Dr Margretta Madden Styles (1930-2005). Margretta was a nurse, author, educator and nursing school dean. She conceived and helped to establish national standards for the certification of nurses in pediatrics, cardiology and other medical specialties.
As a scholar with an international impact on the profession of nursing, Margretta made a significant impact on the skilling and credentialing of nursing. Not only has her work helped to shape the profession and improve patient care, but it has also inspired and influenced the utilisation and uptake of credentialing and badging in education and professional development.
